Hi.I am 32,I was born with cerebral palsy. For 30 years I had a great life, I still do but i have a lot of pain now in my back and hips. I have always walked with a limp and my leg turns in.I am so glad I found this page - it is good to know I am not alone.

I have 3 beautiful boys and I live in Scotland where it is always cold.

Dr.Alexander S writes:
Our Clnic offers a new neurosurgery method for Cerebral Palsy, including adult patients (children since 3-5 years old). We take for surgery cases with tetra/hemi/diplegia (paresis), spastic form. This method is based on removal of non-evidance, not revealed even at MRI and contrast measurements compression of spinal cord and its radicules on cervical level. We are seeking a Russian Patent on this technique. It is not connected with selective dorsal rhizotomy method, as used in some clinics.

I often saw messages in this Web site described worsening neurologocal condition in CP patients during time, esspecially in limbs, speech and so on. Conventional medical opinion: in CP the situation is impossible, because of CP is final damage of the Brain (Cerebrum) and this worsening due to another reason. Our data and experience in treating CP patients show in many cases has been other level of damage - spinal cord and its radicules. Please, write to us, those who are disapointed in classical approach. Thank you, Dr.Alexander S.,neurosurgeon

His clinic is on the world page

Robert writes:
Hi I am 27 years old with so called mild cp. When I was younger I was very active in all aspects of life! Since the age of 17 I have been experienceing pains in my lower back that goes down my legs. Just recently they have become severe, with like jerky or spasm pains, I fall alot becuse of these pains.I also had to give up my job to try to get on disability, with no success yet. I am also looking for doctors that may be of help with adult cp, so if anyone knows of any in the state of missouri please let me know!

email me at Robert's email. I have had several operations on my legs as a child at Shriners hospital in St.Louis Missouri, and now need to find help with the aging cp. I would be very thankfull if anyone could give me some helpful information or just to find some one to be able to talk to with same problems. Thanks.

Andrea writes:
I'm a 35 year old female with spastic diplegia that has been experiencing increased spasticity for quite some time. I had gone to the neurologist and they had suggested an intrathecal baclofen pump. Has anyone had a experience with this device? I originally had a diagnosis of mild cerebral palsy, has this device been used in patients with mild cp who are now having problems walking due to spasticity? If anyone has had experience with this, please e-mail me at my email

Georgie writes:

I am In the process of adopting a little girl that has C.P., fetal alcohol syndrome and also is said to have chronic lung desease. I am told the chronic lung desease is asthma and she does not have facial features of fetal alcohol syndrome. She is 2 yrs. old and is walking. She also at 14 months was saying words clearly. I am trying to find a bit more info on what type of C.P. she may have. Her wrist is fused and she began walking at 18 months. She also is unable to eat normaly due to the function of her tongue. Does anybody know if this is a pretty good sign of future developments? I have been haveing a Very hard time finding information on what could be the effect of the C.P or may be the effect of the fetal alcohol syndrome. I really do not know much more about her except that she is Beutiful even if she may have all these labels!

I am a 33 year old woman who has Cerebral Palsy, and I have to say that there is not much information out there regarding the effects of Cerebral Palsy can have on adults in their 20's,30's 40's and beyond.
EDITOR: That's why I started this site :-).
Do these so called experts think that we just literally disappear off the face of the earth after we reach 21 years of age. Don't these people realize that we would like to have all of the responsibilities and joys of life just like everybody else. I may have severe leg and back pain as result of CP and all of those surgeries on both of my legs that were supposed to "cure" me, but that hasn't stopped me from working, going to college to persue a degree in business, or doing anything else that I damm well pleased.

I would like to hear from other people with CP and swap stories with them. Please e-mail me at: mail link

I am 21 years old and I was born with a disability called Cerebral Palsy, which effects the lower part of my body. Because of this I have to ride with a seatbelt attached to my saddle to keep from falling off my horse. I started riding in Playdays in 1995 then in 1998 I got a chance to ride in the Lone Star Junior Rodeo riding in Pole Bending. I have been riding in local shows for the past three years.

The reason I am writing this letter is because I am trying to find Sponsorship for the 2003 & 2004 season in the local and Class A and World shows. But in order for me to do so I will need help. The Sponsorship is where you can help. I would greatly appreciate any sponsorship you could give and will put your name or business in my pamphlet and on my horse trailer, we also sponsor a class so the announcers at the show will advertise your business.

Also, I am trying to start a riding center for the handicapped but do not have the money or facilities to start the center. I would be very greatfull if you would help me. Even if you just donate a little something that would help a lot?

Below are the awards that I have won the last three years

  • High point Western pleasure (2 years)
  • Walk; trot Highpoint Championship (last year)
  • Presidents Award BeltBuckel (last year)

If you can help in any way please call me or my dad at the following Phone numbers 972-286-0772
469-939-2545
972-286-7424

From the editor: I'm nervous posting phone numbers on the web, send me an email to take them off...
