Color page: Cute smiling Sakura holding a sprig of cherry blossoms.

pg. 5

Sakura stares as she recognizes the man approaching from a short distance away.

Sakura: D... DAD!!

Fujitaka walks up, carrying his briefcase, smiling slightly.

pg. 6

Sakura races toward him.

Sakura: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?

Fujitaka: I was just passing by near here, and suddenly the sky went dark. After that it got light again, and I was wondering what on earth...... I was shocked when all the people around me suddenly fell asleep.

Sakura: But you didn't fall asleep!?

Fujitaka: ? *smiling* No, I'm awake.

pg. 7

Sakura: Eriol-kun's magic put everyone else asleep, so how come...!?

pg. 8

Eriol smiles.

Eriol: Because my magic can't reach him.

pg. 9

Sakura whirls, looking back toward the assembled group behind her: Eriol and Ruby Moon, smiling; Spinel Sun looking unsurprised; Shaoran and Tomoyo astonished; Touya still asleep; Kerberos sweatdropping; Yue expressionless. ^_^;

Fujitaka: ...Who are these people?

Sakura: *quickly shoving her staff behind her back* Ack-- um-- UM--

pg. 10

Eriol strides toward them, his cloak billowing. Yue and Kero start forward in alarm, as does Shaoran. Eriol merely smiles back at them reassuringly.

Eriol: It's all right.

pg. 11

He stops directly in front of Fujitaka and smiles up at him.

Eriol: It's been a while since I met my "other self."

Fujitaka looks down at him, taken aback.

pg. 12

Jaws drop.

Sakura: MY DAD IS ANOTHER ERIOL-KUN!?

pg. 13

Eriol smiles. {You can practically hear the "nikkori." ^_^;} Fujitaka is understandably confused.

Fujitaka: *sweatdropping* I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but...

Eriol: When we were divided into two, I was the only one who kept the memories.

Fujitaka stares.

pg. 14

Eriol [to Sakura]: Clow Reed's soul was divided in two. I am one of those two, and the other is your father.

Sakura: My dad... is a reincarnation of Clow-san, too?

Kero and Yue stare. {I've never seen Yue's eyes get that big.}

Eriol: I have a favor to ask of you, Sakura-san.

pg. 15

Eriol: I want you to perform a magic working on your father and myself.

Sakura: *clutching her staff, alarmed* Why should I use magic on my dad!? And besides, if your magic won't work on him, then mine would never work!!

Eriol: You can do it. The truth is... no one can do it but you.

pg. 16

Eriol: *smiling* It's all right. It's not a magic that will inflict any kind of harm.

He smiles sweetly up at Fujitaka, who still looks a bit dazed. Sakura grips her staff and looks searchingly at Eriol.

pg. 17

Sakura: ...So even if I do the magic you want me to, my dad will be okay, right?

Eriol: Yes.

pg. 18

Sakura: I'll try it.

Shaoran: SAKURA!!

She turns toward him.

Sakura: It's okay. Eriol-kun doesn't look like he's lying. Right?

pg. 19

Eriol: *gently* I promise.

Sakura grips her staff and listens closely.

Eriol: From now on, please repeat after me the spell I'm going to recite.

He closes his eyes as Sakura lifts her staff.

Eriol: Divide into two.

Sakura: Divide into two.

Magic begins to swirl around the three of them. [Fujitaka finally drops his briefcase.]

pg. 20

Eriol: Born into this world once again, the magician Clow Reed.

pg. 21

Eriol: By the power contained in one of those selves.

Sakura: By the power contained in one of those selves.

More swirling magic; Eriol starts to glow. Fujitaka's eyes close.

pg. 22

Eriol/Sakura: As the soul was once divided into two, divide the magic into two as well.

Ruby and Spinel smile; Kero, Shaoran, and Yue stare as a great glowing sphere of power rises from Eriol's form and splits into two. {Wow, just like mitosis!}

pg. 23

Eriol/Sakura: And come to dwell in separate selves.

The two spheres spread to envelop Eriol and Fujitaka.

pg. 24

Magic flows into each of them, and the spell is completed.

pg. 25

Slowly, Eriol opens his eyes. Fujitaka remains standing, his eyes closed.

Sakura: ...What about my dad...?

Eriol: He'll be fine. It's just because he's been given half of my magic.

pg. 26

Sakura: Why did you...?

Eriol: Because there was something I wanted.

Sakura: Something you wanted...?

pg. 27

Eriol: Not to be the most powerful magician in the world any longer.

pg. 28

Sakura gazes at him questioningly.

Eriol: As I am now, I no longer have the magic to blockade this area from others. People will soon be returning.

He turns back to the assembled gang.

Eriol: Everyone, since there are doubtless things that you'd all like to hear--

pg. 29

Eriol: *smiling* Shall we retire to my house?

Stars glimmer above the large, fenced house fronted by pine trees.

pg. 30

In one room, Fujitaka and Touya are [still] sleeping. ^_^; In the main room, Eriol has settled down in his "throne," while the others have to settle for regular chairs.

Eriol: ...Well, where shall I begin?

Sakura: The reason that we've always felt your presence when weird things were happening is...

Eriol: I caused them all.

Kero: *chibi but irate* Sakura became the new master of the Clow Cards fair and square! So why the heck were you messing with her!?

pg. 31

Eriol: There are two reasons for that. First, because Sakura-san's new magic power was the power of the stars.

Sakura: My power...?

Eriol: Do you remember the original "key to the seal" spell?

Sakura: "O key that conceals the power of darkness, reveal your true form before me."

pg. 32

Eriol: But with the new key it changed to...

Sakura: The power of the stars......!

Eriol: The source of the Clow Cards was my magic, the power of "darkness." But the power their new master bore was that of the "stars."

Shaoran: So that's it...! The Clow Cards couldn't be used with the new key because...

pg. 33

Ruby Moon: Eriol didn't do anything. The power of the key and the power of the Cards have completely different attributes, so he didn't invoke any magic.

Kero: But at the Final Trial, when Sakura defeated Yue, she used Windy!

Suppi: That was because of the Bell of the Moon.

Sakura: The Bell of the Moon? You mean Mizuki-sensei's...?

pg. 34

Eriol: I put the power of the moon into that bell, since Windy is one of the Cards with attributes of the moon.

Sakura: Then, you knew I was going to use Windy against Yue-san?

Yue: *arms folded* ..........

Eriol: The Cards were able to function for a time with the power of darkness that I had left them with, but eventually they would have lost all their magic and returned to being nothing but ordinary cards.

pg. 35

Eriol: But in the early days of your power, for you to simply change the cards one after another without any specific reason would have been dangerous.

Sakura: *holding the cards in her arms* So that's why... you created situations in which the Cards would have to change...?

Shaoran: So that... was it....

Tomoyo: *smiling* ...I always knew you were a kind person, Hiiragizawa-kun.

Eriol: What made you think so?

Tomoyo: Because you were always watching over Sakura-chan and Ri-kun with kind eyes.

pg. 36

Sakura and Shaoran gape.

Eriol: Did you realize what I was?

Tomoyo: Oh, no, not at all. ...That is, rather than thinking you had magical powers, I knew you were a person with a kind heart and keen insight.

Eriol looks pleased.

pg. 37

Kero: WELL, IF THAT WAS IT, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL SAKURA AND ALL OF US FROM THE BEGINNING!!?

Ruby Moon: If Eriol had revealed his true character, volunteered to help with changing the Cards, and then caused some kind of 'trouble', do you really think the Cards would have changed?

Kero looks peeved, but sweatdrops.

Suppi [to Kero]: In order to remake the Clow Cards, either the same power as Clow's or an equivalent level of power was necessary. I'm sorry to say it, but at the time we arrived in Tomoeda, I don't believe your master possessed that kind of power.

Kero looks like he wants to beat Suppi up.

pg. 38

Spinel flies up toward Sakura.

Suppi: Since Eriol is the same age as you, he's been waiting for you all along. He became your classmate to stay close to you, all so you'd be able to change the Clow Cards entirely.

She reaches for Suppi and cradles him in her hands.

Sakura: Eriol-kun...

pg. 39

Sakura: Thank you so much. Clow-san... no, Eriol-kun-- you knew everything, didn't you? About me and about the Cards.

Eriol: *amused* Not everything.

Sakura: Huh?

Eriol: Certain things came to pass that even I couldn't predict.

pg. 40

Shaoran: What the heck do you mean, stuff that even Clow Reed couldn't predict?

He stops, suddenly conscious of his rudeness. {See note below.}

Shaoran: *sweating profusely* Uh, I mean...

Eriol: No need to worry.

He gazes warmly at both Sakura and Shaoran, who look back at him cluelessly.

pg. 41

Eriol: Let's keep that a secret for now.

Sakura and Shaoran blink.

Eriol: And as for the other reason...

He bows his head, looking suddenly much older than his physical age.

Eriol: It was for my own sake.

pg. 42

Eriol: During the time when I was Clow Reed, the strength of my power troubled me. More than anything, always knowing what was going to occur in the future made my life a thing with very little joy in it. For that reason, when I died as Clow Reed, I divided my soul into two parts. One, myself as Eriol, and the other, your father, Kinomoto Fujitaka-san.

pg. 43

Eriol: But in spite of that, I wasn't able to divide my magic, even though I possessed the power of Clow Reed. And the only person who could do something that Clow Reed's magic could not do would be...

Kero: Someone whose magic could surpass Clow Reed's.

Eriol: In other words, someone who could change all the Cards created by Clow Reed into Cards of her own, using her own power. That's you, Sakura-san.

pg. 44

Sakura: *wide-eyed* Me...

Eriol: In that way, my magic was divided into to two parts just as my soul was.

He closes his eyes as if a great burden has been lifted from him.

Eriol: At last, I am no longer "the most powerful magician in the world"...

He rises and walks over to Sakura.

Eriol: ...You have my thanks, Sakura-san. And for treating you harshly until now, I sincerely apologize.

pg. 45

He bows his head.

Eriol: Please take care of the Cards, Kerberos, and Yue.

Sakura: *smiling* ...I will.

From behind a partly-open doorway, a new person suddenly speaks.

Voice: Well done, Sakura-chan.

Sakura whirls as Eriol glances over, unsurprised.

Sakura: Huh!?

To be continued.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Note:
Shaoran's embarrassment on pg. 40 is actually a result of his using casual speech to Eriol, as he would to a classmate of his own age. Realizing that Eriol is really Clow [and therefore his elder] causes him to get flustered and switch to more polite [distal] speech. Eriol then reassures him that casual is okay. After all, they're the same age in THIS life. ^_^;
