Card Captor Sakura
The end at last! It seems I do nothing but apologize for my slowness, and repeated apologies get tiresome, don't they? So I should just stop now, right? *cough* Anyway. I know I promised more shallow thoughts on the grand finale, but at the moment I have none, except that it was warm and fuzzy, rather sudden, and that Shaoran as a junior high school student is cute as hell.
In fact, the overall cuteness of Sakura (and, come to think of it, SDS as well) makes me wonder if CLAMP haven't left their death-and-destruction phase behind them. Angelic Layer, too, has to qualify as genki. X is still ridden with peril and torment, but even it has taken several turns away from the dark side of the force lately. (The birth of puppy-Inuki comes to mind, as well as Kamui's increasing togetherness.) No doubt it's beyond hubris to try to predict where X is going to go, but I remain stupidly optimistic that not everyone is going to bite the big one in the end. And I believe the classic CLAMP twist toward tragedy at the end of a story, a la TB and Rayearth, may be a thing of the past. So there, a shallow thought or two after all.
I understand that an English version of Sakura is being published in the U.S., and I
will be happy to take down my translations when lawyers begin gnashing their teeth at me.
