Criteria
(1) It doesn't have to be about Sailor Moon. It
can be any "Magical Girl" story, even one of your own creation.
(2) Preferential treatment is given towards completed fanfics, unless you're writing a
multi-multi-part story. Then I'm a bit more forgiving, because *I*
happen to be writing a multi-multi-part story! But if it is a MMP
story, make sure that you have plans to finish it. It's awful reading a story and coming to a cliffhanger
ending, and then the author loses interest.... So if your fanfic hasn't been updated in a year, it runs the risk of being deleted from the archive.
(3) It must be rated PG or lower. Love scenes are
good. Ecchi or hentai or lemons are not. The Story of Makoto's
Sempai is good. Watching Neo-Queen Serenity and Endymion
Through the Keyhole is bad. There are plenty of sites with H-fic
pages, but mine's not one of them. This also means to keep violence
to a minimum. It's OK to toast bad guys with "Flower Hurricane" or
"Dead Scream". But it's bad to have Hotaru going on a psycho rampage
leaving a trail of mutilated people behind her. Remember, this is
Sailor Moon, not Parasyte! ;o)
(4) Please try not to write anything heretical!
Make it believable! (Maybe "believable" isn't the best adjective to
use in conjunction with a Magical Girl theme?) ^_^ Examples of
heretical are giving Michiru or Haruka boyfriends/husbands; claiming
Neo-Queen Serenity is Chibi-Usa; having Ami suffer child abuse;
turning Usagi into a math genius. With the exception of the last one,
I've seen them all done, and I personally think it's irrevocably
detracting from a story if you (a), go against character; or (b),
claim something is true that is firmly established to be
false.
(5) Last one, and it's not even a rule! But if
your story is complete and of good length,, you're eligible to win the
"Distinguished Fanfic Author" award! Whee! Visit my awards
page to see what it looks like!
