Here you will find
most of the characters in the series, and brief description of
them.

Shinichi Kudo
17 year old high school detective. Big fan of Sherlock Homes
and great at soccer. Childhood friend of Mouri Ran. Shinichi
has feelings for Ran, but can't be truthful about it. He realizes
that Ran is in love with him when Ran confided in the transformed
Conan.
Conan Edogawa
The child form of Shinichi after being forced to drink a mysterious
pill by men in black. Shinichi used the name Edogawa Conan to
hide his true identity from the people around him. He lives with
Mouri Ran and her dad, Mouri Kogoro. Uses voice changing bowtie
and other nifty mecha created by Dr. Agasa when solving cases.

Ran Mouri
Classmate and childhood
friend of Shinichi Kudo. She secretly likes Shinichi and worries
about him during his absence. Ran is very strong willed. She
is also a karate expert. She can beat the crap out of her opponents
if she isn't scared or semi-unconcious, and has helped in several
cases when the criminal tried to escape or cause more harm to
people around. Ran cooks for Conan and her dad. When she's not
around they starve or go out for food. She is also the responsible
one between her and her dad.
Her closest encounter with death came in "The Case of the
Mummy", when she accidentally saw something and became the
target of a ruthless killer who tried to kill her three times
without success.

|
Kogoro Mouri
Ran's father. Kogoro's
career was going downhill because he is a totally incompetent
detective. The arrival of Conan (Shinichi) turned his career
around as Conan secretly solved all his crimes for him. As Conan
always put him to sleep before impersonating his voice to solve
the cases, he was later known as the "Sleeping Kogoro".
Before he became a real "meitantei" (famous detecive),
he was always mistook for a famous Japanese pilot.
Kogoro used to be a detective in the police department, working
along side with Inspector Megure. An incident caused him to retire
from the force early and do what he does now. Believe it or not,
he is actually the best judo player in his university, but never
won a competition because he got stage-fright every time. This
was revealed in "The Case of Kogoro's Class Gathering",
in which he solved the case himself. Well, with some hints with
Conan of course!

Ai Haibara
She is like Shinichi.
Her real name is Shiho Miyano. She was the one who invented the
drug that shrunk Shinichi and herself. Her codename was Sherry,
but the death of her older sister (in "The Case the Strange
Person Hunt")made her turn away from the Underground Crime
Ring. When the Underground decided to kill her, they handcuffed
her to a pipe on the wall to await her execution. Since they
were going to kill her, she took her own drug, intent on killing
herself first. Instead, she was shrunk, and her hand was able
to slip out of the handcuffs.
She then join Conan's school, and later became part of the Shonen
Detective Club.

Detective Boys: Genta Kojima,
Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, Ayumi Yoshida
Classmates of Conan.
They like to solve mysteries, but most of the ones that they
do solve is mainly solved by Conan. They do however help Conan
with ideas. There is a little love triangle going on between
the foursome; Ayumi likes Conan, but Mitsuhiko and Genta like
Ayumi and, of course, Conan likes Ran.
Ayumi also view the inclusion of Ai as a possible threat to her
"relationship" with Conan. In the case of "Murder
on a Monday Evening (7:30pm)", Ayumi was used by the killer
to provide an alibi, which was dispelled by Conan.

Heiji Hattori
The west version of
Shinichi (another famous high school detective). First appearance
in Volume 10, when he lost to Shinichi in a murder case. Conan
was transformed into Shinchi for a short period of time due to
an unknown reaction and he beat Heiji to the case.Heiji realized
the truth that Conan is Shinichi in Volume 13. Tends to call
Conan using his real name "Shinichi" (and that make
Ran suspicious who really Conan is!). Solves some cases together
with Conan, the latest being "The Case of the Shadow Planner",
when Heiji nearly died after being attacked by the killer and
fell into the sea.

magazine (Japanese comic weekly).
