American and Japanese Ys covers The action RPG Ys Books I and II will be a classic for as long as video games exist. As the hero Adol, you must find the six books of Ys in order to travel to a floating continent that is being controlled by the evil Dark Fact.
It was one of the precious few titles to receive a perfect 10 in Electronic Gaming Monthly. This is the game that got me hooked on good FMV. The music has been released more then once.
Even those who hated the Turbografx admitted to me that Ys was well done.
Ys IV and Goetzendiener Unlike Ys III, Ys IV did the series proud. Although I preferred the music from I and II, the game play and cut scenes had been vastly improved. This title was available only in Japanese, but I have seen a walkthrough posted somewhere for those without Japanese language skills that have managed to acquire this game.
The Hero of Ys, Adol!
Another image of Adol.

Goetzendiener was an intriguing action/puzzle game with an isometric viewpoint. You controlled a princess with magical powers who must find and slay the evil demon king. Gainax was involved with the game's cut scenes.
The heroine of Goetzendiener! Example of isometric gameplay.

American Exile and Dungeon Explorer II Exile was one of those unsung hits. You control Sadler, a middle eastern hero who travels the world for the legendary Holimax in order to stop the brutality of the Crusades! Translated by the Working Designs team, the English version is actually better than the Japanese version, which is VERY rare for me to say!
Rumi from Exile. Sadler (1)! Sadler (2)!

Dungeon Explorer II is the best example of a sequel that really does outdo the original. Up to five players can simultaneously help the powerless and gain in abilites while seeking to destroy the newly resurrected ruler of darkness known as Natas in this Gauntlet-style action RPG. Voices provided by the ever skillful Working Designs team!

Langlisser I and Neo Nectaris Remember Warsong for the Genesis? The original title is Langlisser, which became a popular stategy RPG series in Japan. This is the PC Engine version of the first Langlisser game. The graphics are completely revamped and FMV added. One of the best conversion jobs I've seen to date. Check for the sequel on both Mega Drive and Super Famicom, as well as Langlisser III, IV, and V for Saturn!

Neo Nectaris is the superbly crafted sequel to Nectaris, known to Turbografx owners as Military Madness. Neo Nectaris is a game of pure tactics. Manuever tanks, buggys, fighters, and so forth on both the moon and Mars to defeat the forces of the evil empire! The original even got ported to Playstation as Nectaris: Military Madness, IN ENGLISH! This game WILL teach you tactics!

Exile II and Emerald Dragon Exile: Wicked Phenomenon was a HORRIBLE sequel! I knew this would be the case, but I bought it because I'm a fan of Exile and the Working Designs team. The cinemas and voice acting are good, but I do not recommend this game to anyone except a die hard Exile fan.

Emerald Dragon, on the other hand, is one of my favorite RPGs. There's a good 40 minutes of cut scenes with excellent voice acting and good animation due to the use of motion blur. Join Attleshon as he travels with his human love Tamlin in pursuit of the evil that threatens the land of Ishban!

Snatcher and Vasteel Snatcher was an EXCELLENT interactive adventure game in which you portray a cyborg hunter known as Gillian Seed in Neo Kobe (not Tokyo!). Encounter horror, action, and suspense in this well designed game of pure Cyberpunk!

Vasteel is, believe it or not, an action/strategy game. As either the newly appointed emperor or his rebellious brother manuever mecha in true tactical fashion, but duke it out with arcade action!

Cosmic Fantasy 4, Chapters 1 and 2! Cosmic Fantasy is my absolute favorite 16 bit RPG series! The character designs have that rare ability to display comic absurdity one minute and the best of dramatic seriousness the next. Check out the Cosmic Fantasy Homepage For ALL the information you'll need!
