Taiki Kou

Taiki Kou is known as the "smart one." Which is true, Taiki is quite intellectual. He is most interested in literature, especially poetry. When Usagi bandaged up some cuts on his hand from rose thorns, he rewarded her with a poem, "The Sick Rose" by Blake.Taiki in Juuban High uniform

"O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy;
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy."

Both Mako-chan and Usagi were in awe. ^_^ He also enjoys writing poetry on his days off. His love for poetry hints at a truly romantic nature. But at first, it seems that he is smart in a stony, purely logical way. (Hello, Mr. Spock?) But with a little prodding from Ami, his romantic side comes out. He corrects a teacher who believes that stars are the spirits of our ancestors by saying that they are actually the spirits of people still alive, and that everyone has a shining star inside of them. Ami was pleased to see that he did believe in dreams and romance, even if he didn't always show it. Taiki also knows how to have a good time when he lets himself. Usagi seems to bring out his care free side; he had a very good laugh at her confusion over Blake. "Oh! Like a 'coffee break!'" He lost it again when she blew up an oven on a televsion cooking show. Seiya and Yaten said they couldn't recall the last time he had laughed like that. And I don't think he really minded the bow Usagi made him wear on his head when he went to visit a sick little girl in the hospital. Taking a break and laughing helps Taiki to keep going. It is the best medicine after all. ^_^
