I grew up in a Pentecostal church but today attend a Mennonite Brethren church with my husband Richard. He is a converted Anglican. I find the Mennonite concepts of pacificsm, brotherhood and their sense of community to be very uplifting. We find that being involved in a church family is a great source of encouragement, accountability and support It is also very rewarding to share those things with your fellow Believers. This year we are youth sponors for the third year. It will be my last year for awhile due to the imminent arrival of yount Iain. I love our kids to pieces and will miss them like crazy, but it`s time for a break I do miss those handclapping, loud worship services though *wink*.
I am an avid reader, with samples of every genre on my five overstuffed, double stacked bookshelves. I recommend a "few " favourites in The Siren’s Personal Library ....... perhaps my bookworm husband has contributed something to that volume as well.*LOL*.
In September of 2006 we went on a three week trip to the UK. We visited England (London, Glastonbury, Bristol, Bath, York, Whitby), Scotland (Edinburgh, Dunnotar, Glasgow, Obin and almost Iona), and Wales (Caernarfron and the island of Anglesey). We saw some amazing places, visited with my friend Rob and his wife Victoria, met Rik`s extended family in Wales and just reveled in all the history. It was a totally different experience from my solo trip in September 1997. Many more stops and a different perspective travelling with someone else. We had a great time and there was minimal tension. You really don`t know a person until you travel with them out of a backpack for three weeks. Fortunately I still think my hubby is the best. :)
I have been blessed by my encounters on the internet for the most part. I have made some incredible friends all over North America… You can get to know them by checking out The People the Siren Loves. I have met many of them, and hope the most cherished ones will be dear to me for years.
Anyway, that`s enough about me. If you want to know more, click on the various links throughout this page. You can also find me on Facebook.
