The International Association for Creative Dance- I used to think that Anna Halprin ,now in her 70's, was the elder sage of improvisational dance. I was wrong, that honor goes to Barbara Mettler, who must be at least 150 years old by now. OK , OK , so I'm exaggerating a little( but not by much). This woman studied with Mary Wigman, and may have even known Isadora. There's an article on her in the Summer/Fall 98 Contact Quarterly.
