The Museum is housed in the old police station built 1858 and court room built 1867, includes a walled courtyard with three cells. As well as Victorian era artefacts, utensils and costumes, the museum shows how the celtic influence has been such a persistent strand through local history. The Museum opened in 1974. The main display in the court room is of the settlement and growth of the town from 1840 to circa 1900. Remaining rooms are the sitting room, kitchen, bedroom and nursery. Outside are the original cells, a collection of old farm machinery, horse drawn vehicles and 1880s shearing plant.There are approximately five thousand  items and two thousand photographs. Guided tours for groups are available by arrangement.
