Date: 17th November 1997 ![]() Aunty Soosh![]() Dinner party on Friday night went well! I think that I made too many courses, after 2nd course they said "There's more?" with an incredulous expression. Not too many leftovers, just some noodles, which I made into a pudding the next day..just some nutty idea to use the noodles for something other than what they were intended for. Worked well I might add, even my mother asked for the recipe! Sat night, went to see Air Force 1 with Harrison Ford. I won't say it was a great movie, as it was very predictable..and its originality was in question (but I am no movie critic). There was one part in the movie where they were in the middle of a crossfire (airborne) and Harrison Ford is in the cockpit smirking..his grin made him look as he did in as Han Solo from Star Wars!!! I was dissapointed not to see Chewbecca the Wookie returning a triumphant smile. Just love that Wookie! Sunday was a relaxing day..parents came over for lunch. My friend Picci rang me from Arizona as parents arrived..I told my parents to raid the fridge...Like hungry bears they looked into the fridge and found no porridge :( , they were glum, so I sent them to forage for food. They came back with Greek delights, Tzatziki, feta cheese salad, eggplant dips, bread etc etc...what great hunters they are! Straight from the deli at the top of the street..They were in heaven :). I think they were happy, full tummies and all! Sunday eve, watched a couple of Star Trek (DS9) episodes. And an Elephant (nature) program that I have seen before but enjoyed so much, I asked friends to tape it for me (as it is on cable). It goes into the biological structure of Elephants, its evolution, social and spiritual aspects. One of the studies conducted, revealed that Elephants communicate in infra-sound waves, which cannot be heard within our hearing range, but allows them to communicate over 4km radius. Anyway I won't bore you with any more info, except to say that the Elephant's temporal lobe is highly convoluted, which is indicitive of its enhanced memory storing capacity, hence shedding new and light on the theory that 'elephant's never forget'! Perhaps this is not the right time to mention that I became an Aunty again. My brother-in- law's wife gave birth to an 8 pound 6 ounce baby girl on Sunday night. Only took 4 hours! Well it is her 6th child :). Friday night watched an episode of Fawlty Towers. It was the first time my hubby had ever seen an episode! It was an episode I have seen previously, but still funny nonetheless. Then the World news came on. Great news coverage, but had a chuckle when they introduced "Humphrey" the 10 year old Moggie from 10 Downing St. The cat apparantly has gone into 'retirement' as it has kidney failure. Well of course I thought about all the hungry, starving and homeless people in the world...but silly me, who can forgo a journalistic masterpiece about a cat from Downing St! :) Then I was fortunate to read a bumper sticker at the back of a 4-wheel drive, "If you're not a haemarroid get off my arse!" I wasn't tailgating, but I still found it amusing (of course, once again the nurse side in me laughed). Hubby had good chuckle. We got home and voted for a representative to go to the elections (delegates for the constitutional convention about Australia becoming a republic). I voted for the "More beer party", who's motto is something like this 'Multiculturalism - hell we'll drink anyones beer'. I guess that is not the responsible thing to do, but it was the only party that sounded honest, and upheld true Aussie values! (hehehe) I apologize to all you serious Pollies out there..but do you really think they give a damn? Tuesday night, danced to Little Richard and then Nat King Cole 'Fly me to the Moon', with my dad. Then I danced with my mother, slightly confused as to who should lead. We had a nice dinner, usually a pleasent, warm fuzzy experience. Earlier on, I was greeted at the door by my two neices and nephew, with a huge hug and kiss..Made my night! Then went to congratulate my mother-in-law on her new grandchild... On the way home we saw this man with a placard saying "Vote 1 - Russel Standish", only problem was this man could barely cross the road...drunk? hmm not sure, but his clothes were straggly and he was merrily waving to us as he crossed the road. The guy's in the Armaguard Truck waiting at the lights next to us were having a good chuckle, but who could blame them! Perhaps he was just being happy at 11pm at night, in the middle of the road with a voting sign, perhaps he was an insomniac or a sleepwalker...who knows!!! Signing off now...Enjoy the recipe! Here's the recipe! NOODLE PUDDING What you need
Method Turn on oven to 180*C (fan forced is prefered). Take noodles and put into pyrex dish. Beat
the egg and then mix in milk and sugar. Add egg/milk/sugar mix to the noodles, add in raisins
and mix together thouroughly. Sprinkle on a little cinnamon, put lid on dish and put into oven.
Cook for 1 hour, but check after 45 minutes to see that it is firming well. The pudding should be a
golden yellow colour and firm. [PREVIOUS] [TODAY'S] [NEXT] [ARCHIVE] [HOME] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
