Stamp Credits: Meer Image

Techniques: Stamping, embossing, layering with corrugated and textured papers, charm

Comments: The poem, roughly translated says, "To fall asleep in your arms/To wake up in your dreams/the brightness of the new moon in your mouth.""

Stamp Credits: Angels: Appalachian Art Stamps, Stars: Rollagraph wheel (ANM)

Techniques: Layering, angels and sky colored with watercolor?

Comments: Being a musician, I especially like this one. I have always thought of music as being a celestial endeavor. The coloring of the angels gives it a very "classical" look, too.

Stamp Credits: Swooning: Non-Sequitur, Divine Vine: Rubber Stampede, Autumn leaves: Rollagraph wheel (ANM)

Techniques: Stamping, embossing, layered frame

Comments: Here's two things I like about a lot of Stampcas' work. First off, the addition of the poem. Combining art forms. Very cool, IMHO. Second, the complex simplicity. There's noting more involved here than stamping and embossing, both fundamental techniques. Since the focus of the card isn't a new trick, what really matters is the choice of images and colors, and the composition. That's what makes it art.

Techniques: Stamping, layering

Comments: Here's another example of more is less. Two stamps, no complex techniques. Just great composition.

Stamp Credits: Quote: Uneeda, Woman: Third Coast, Large Hand, Eiffel Tower: Judi-kins

Techniques: Stamping and layering

Comments: The scan blurs the text, "My most secret fantasy is having 2 men (one cooking, the other cleaning). In addition to the humor, I really like a black and white card. You don't see them too often.

Stamp Credits: Medieval Woodcarving: Non-sequitur, Celestial: Rollagraph wheel (ANM)

Techniques: Stamping, embossing, layering the frame

Comments: Another simple, consistent design

Stamp Credits: Reclining Nude: Non-Sequitur, Clouds, Poem texture: Unknown

Techniques: Stamping, embossing, layering. The cloud paper is torn, instead of cut, and the white of the frayed edges gives it shape.

Comments: Another poem card, this one written in french for an assingment for a french class. "I think of him/in the darkness of the night/Always and everyday/Why is it that I cry if the words of love are in my heart?"

Stamp Credits: Woman's face, Mini-postcard: Stamp Francisco, Nose and mouth: Rubber Anarchy, Map: Toybox, "...best friend...": VLVS!, "PS Write soon": Uneeda, Other Quotes: Diva Rubber, Postal cancellations: Magna Stamp set (Clearsnap)

Techniques: Stamping, layering

Comments: While most of her cards show "less is more", this one shows that "more is more." This card is filled with stuff, but it's not cluttered or clogged up. Some of that has to do with some real stamping subtlety, like making sure that stamps in the background are stamped lighter than the ones in the foreground. The face in the foreground is on thin paper, allowing some of the images beneath to show through, but also surrounding it in space and helping it to stand out. This face is more "here" than the other, distant face (which is stamped directly over the map (like the other side of the world). This one is a real lesson in composition.

Stamp Credits: Woman reading letter: Non-Sequitur

Techniques: Stamping, layering. Sun is punch-out

Comments: Clear and simple. The balance between negative space (upper left and lower right) and positive space (lower left and upper right) is nice.

Stamp Credits: Nude with shawl, Moon: Non-Sequitur

Techniques: Stamping, embossing, layering

Comments: A lot of the great effects done by layering are simply part of choosing the right papers to layer. The poem here is in Portuguese, the native language of Brazil. She says it doesn't translate very well.
