HALLOWEEN PARTY!
Witchy Woman's "Tricks"~
For Having a Great Halloween Party!
INVITATIONS
Have mom buy orange and black construction paper~fold one piece of construction paper in half and cut with paper scissors into two pieces~fold each in half.(this makes two invitations)Cut out a small black spider-(have Mom help you make a template to trace them out first) then paste to the right bottom corner of each card. On the front with black crayons write "YOU'RE INVITED TO MY HALLOWEEN PARTY"
and on the inside with black crayon write:
WHEN:__(like Friday or Saturday)_
WHERE:_______(your address)______
DATE:____(October 29th or 30th)__
TIME:______(2:00-4:00 p.m.?)_____
Have Mom help you fill these in~Then at the bottom of the card write:
PLEASE WEAR YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUME!
You can mail these or just take them with you and hand them out at school~believe me the kids will make sure they get them home to their parents!
P.S. You can also have your party on Halloween (or whatever day your community celebrates) in the afternoon, and then just have your friend's parents pick them up for trick or treating. They'll already be dressed!
DECORATIONS
Help Mom Decorate the room for your party with Halloween Decorations like flying witches, creepy crawly spiders, and jack-o-lantern faces made of orange and black construction paper! Your friends can help, or your brothers or sisters too! Have Mom hang them from string with thumbtacks to the ceiling, or from other areas that already have something hanging down, like the light fixtures. Then have Mom or Dad get a dozen helium inflated balloons, in evenly mixed colors of orange and black, release them individually and let them float against the ceiling with their matching ribbon streamers hanging down all around the room. You can also have Mom or Dad help you hang black crepe paper from the ceiling.
SPECIAL TIP:
If you want your black crepe paper to look like one giant spider~just start at the "center" of the room and extend each piece to the "corners" and tape (there will be four) then starting in the center again go in between each one with another piece of black crepe paper and extend to the edge of the ceiling until you make enough legs to look like a spider (there should be at least 8 in all) Take a large piece of black construction paper and make a body and attach it in the center, and "Viola!" A "Spider" big enough to rule the entire room! You can also use an orange piece of construction paper to make eyes and stripes across the body! Cool Huh?
HOW ABOUT A GHOST TOO?
Also, if Mom has a big plant or something tall in the room that can easily be covered, have her put a white sheet over it~come down a couple of feet and tie a bow or piece of cloth around it so that it forms a round head, and use black construction paper to form eyes and an open mouth, pin on the head with straight pins underneath and you have a really cool ghost to visit in the corner of the room! (When the party's over, have Mom remove the pins and throw away the paper~her sheet is still intact!)
HALLOWEEN BUFFET TABLE
Have Mom cover the table with a black or white table cloth and set up your halloween treats there! You can have your "Witches Brew Punch" on one end, with halloween paper plates, napkins, and cups, and your other treats throughout the table. Make some extra pumpkins & witches to decorate from your construction paper. Let everybody serve themselves, or have Mom & Dad dress up in Halloween Costumes and greet your guests as helpers. The kids will love it!
(see below for some Cool Halloween Treat Recipes & Games!)
Play old "Boris Carloff" movies on the VCR! Play Halloween Music and anything Happy and Fun for "HALLOWEEN DANCING WITH THE GHOULS!" But, BE CAREFUL~you don't want to~ "LOSE YOUR HEADS"!
TRY THESE SCARY HALLOWEEN TREATS FOR YOUR HUNGRY GOBLIN GUESTS!
WITCHY WOMAN'S HALLOWEEN BREW!
2 quarts apple cider
cinnamon sticks
sugar if desired
Mix cinnamon and cider in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a simmer over low heat for 5 - 10 minutes. Cool in refrigerator and serve with an "ice ring". (Made from a bundt pan-with Lemonade, raisins, orange, and lemon slices arranged inside.) The raisins represent"BUGS"! or have Dad put in some "Gummy Bugs" or "Gummy Worms" instead! UGH!
BLOODY FRANKENSTEIN FINGERS!
Have Mom arrange Hot Dog Buns on a platter lengthwise~insert cooked hot dogs in each. Put "Red Ketchup" on each hot dog widthwise two or three times to look like knuckles. (this represents the blood) Then take a round slice of dill pickle and cut into quarters. Put one piece at the top end of the hot dog with the "Pointed" end sticking outward. (This is supposed to represent the fingernail.) If you have enough room you can sprinkle potato chips around the outside of the group of hot dogs. Make a sign out of your construction paper to let your guests know what they are!
CANDY APPLE WITCHES!
Have Mom Purchase already made red candy apples, or she can make her own, and cover them individually with plastic wrap. (caramel ones work good too) Then make a triangle out of black construction paper, and wrap around the apple and tape to shut, it should look like a "cone" shape. Next use your orange paper and cut a round face and draw on eyes and mouth with a crayon, paste or tape to the top of the cone or stick for a head. Next make a witches hat out of black construction paper and paste to the top of the head. If you have some yellow construction paper, you can cut out a broom and paste it mid-way down the "witches" dress, and kind of sideways. These make really cute decorations for your buffet table and the kids get an extra treat too!
COUNT DRACULA'S GRAVEYARD DIRT DESSERT!
Crush a full bag of Oreo cookies and spread some in the bottom of a 9 x 12 pan. Reserve the other half for the top. Next mix chocolate pudding and coolwhip, and spread over the crust. Spread the remaining crumbs over the pudding, covering completely. Use cookies to represent the tombstones, or coffins, oval cookies are best, you can even pipe on sayings with icing (R.I.P., etc) Decorate with Bats, Pumpkins, Spiders, etc. Just use your imagination!
I hope you enjoy THE COUNT'S Favorite Treat!
HALLOWEEN JACK-O-LANTERN CAKE
Bake 2 yellow cakes in Bundt pans. Place the 2 cakes together bottom to bottom. Frost with buttercream frosting dyed with orange food coloring. The pumpkin face can be pieces of a Hershey Chocolate Bar cut into triangles, etc for eyes, nose. Or, you can use M & M's, candy corn, or Raisins if you prefer. And finally set a green frosted cupcake at the top as the stem! SERVE WITH BREYER'S PUMPKIN FLAVORED ICE CREAM!
