Our Home
We live about 30 miles south of Jackson, Mississippi, in a very rural area. The land itself has been in my family for generations.
On the spot
where we built our house, my grandparents house stood for over
150 years. Unfortunatly, It burned in '77.
This is the house that originally stood where ours is now. I spent a huge amount of my time here when I was young.
The house that I was raised in is just up the hill, so it was easy enough for me to throw down my books and head down here everyday after school.
My grandmother was almost always sitting there in front of the window farthest to the right, talking (gossiping) on the telephone with one of
her friends. I always waited until she would get up and head to the kitchen to fix supper for my grandfather, and then dig into her chocolate covered cherry stash. I always thought I was getting away with something, until later on, I realized that she knew what I was doing, since there was always plenty there.
I loved that old house, but now I love my new one. I've lived in just about every state in the south, but this is the only place I've ever been that actually felt like
Home!
