Another’s Eyes

she was young
and unsteady
quite possibly unready

she stumbled
and fell

when one half walked on
dividing painfully
a seeming whole
a total mess

she was crying
and alone
certainly not understanding
only partially living

when time forces a choice
she crawls on
she reforms
she stands
she finds herself looking into forever

whole

The One

there is an automatic need to reach out and touch…
to grasp the hand next to you,
lean upon the shoulder,
kiss the forehead,
trace the thigh,
fall into the body
and embrace the feeling
of the one you love

small things

It’s silly I know
What small things can do
The ring of a phone
A few written words
Or a knock on the door

It’s funny I know
What all these can mean
The sound of a voice
A catch in the breath
And the touch of a hand

Search for the meaning in small things
The questions are within yourself
The answers are within another
Remember to look…

open

What are you looking for
How can you see
A place that is closed
Even to me
This is the time
Place your foot in the door
With tears in our eyes
The words are no more
Hold on to your faith
Keep searching for peace
With infinite patience
We’ll find the release

when

having a hard time not thinking
finding myself constantly wondering
my thoughts wandering to her
can’t help it
can’t stop it
don’t even want to
where is she?
what is she doing?
when will she be with me?
her head upon my shoulder
my arms enfolding her
safe

perspective

what do you see?
when you look
what do you feel?
when you close your eyes
is it clear?
easily defined
am I?
what you see
can it be?
if you like… love
me?

changed

a feeling within
strange
where I am
i do not recognize
i have not been here in awhile
as the sun descends
next to me
my eyes look for you
and my comfort place
incomplete
my arms
without you to hold
as my head lies upon the pillow
my soul reaches for yours
and asks you to hurry

sunrise

i hold her to me
a breath taken
of sweet smelling hair
and moist skin
my cheek pressed tightly
against her back
her rhythm in my ear

will the day please stay away?

one morning they’re gone…
her words
and love
her trust
and faith
leaving me so
fearfully, painfully alone

will the tears please stop?

the emptiness of the world
with it’s unaccepting arms
and it’s uncaring stares
all about me
no support
or encouragement
no one around
to take my hand
and show me the way

will someone please help?

slowly rousing
i don’t want to see
that no one is there
my eyes closed tightly
against watery heartache
and the morning sun
exhausted…
i lower the shade

will you please wake me?

bliss

i don’t want to leave these arms
this place of favor
the warmth that surrounds me
rivals the sun
remaining is all I could ask for
