Other people's words

Music has been an important part of my life all the time.
I've listened to, played and written all kinds of music over the years.
At this page I'd like to present some of the most impressive song lyrics and quotes I've come across.
First of all here's a short note to the people who wrote these lyrics:
I'm aware that all the lyrics I'm using here are protected by copyright laws.
I'm also aware that I don't have any permission to use them.
Please note that I'm using them in humble appreciation of your work and that
I don't gain any profit of showing them on my site apart from not having to find
my own words to express my feelings. You have said it all before and you said it in a much
better way than I think I will ever be able to put it in my own words.
Thanks a lot for your attention.
Some of the quotes I'm using here may be taken out of the song's context,
some of my interpretations may not reflect the authors initial intention.
Anyway I believe most writers like to leave the interpretation of
their songs to the listener and leave a couple of ways open for interpretation.
This page will remain under permanent construction. I'll add quotes and links to complete song lyrics depending on my moods. So please check by for changes frequently.
First of all here is my current favorite line. Maybe I use it out of context but I feel it expresses my current situation pretty well and it shows a nice and positive perspective for the future:

This song could describe the situation of a couple like
me and me wife. The husband may just have come out to his SO as
a transgendered person after many years of hiding. This may have
finally saved their relationship, which went through many ups, downs and
even more downs.
Please click on the song title to read the complete song lyrics of Loving You's A Dirty Job But Somebody's Gotta Do It written by Jim Steinman and performed by Bonnie Tyler & Todd Rundgren |

Here's a song from Aerosmith's Nine Lives album, which to me is the perfect ode to the Pink Room. If you've ever been to the Pink Room and enjoyed it half as much as I do, just read the lyrics of Pink (written by Steven Tyler, Richie Supa & Glenn Ballard) and I'm pretty sure you'll know what I mean... |

Another one from Aerosmith's Nine Lives. I like the way the subject of love itself is described in there. Just find it out yourself by reading Ain't That A Bitch (written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry & Desmond Child) |

This is a special song from Kansas' Drastic Measures album.
I spent many hours trying to find out if this is a song about a transexual or a genetic girl wishing to look more feminine. I finally came to the conclusion that it wouldn't make any difference. Maybe this is the main message of this song. Try to find it out yourself by reading Andi (written by John Elefante) |

This may not necessarily be a song of transgender content.
Anyway, whatever demon resides in this guys mind it describes the struggle of a man to match his loved one's image of himself. Please read A Man I'll Never Be (written by Tom Scholz) and try to find out what it might be about. |

Hmm.. I really don't know why it took me so long to add it for I've always loved this song a lot.
Maybe it's merely because this is not a song of typical transgender content, but it has this beautiful touch of hope, faith and sincerity that may help you set free the beautiful things within yourself that you've always been hiding from the outside world. Well, enough said from my side.. hurry up and click to read This Is It (Your Soul) by Irelands own Hothouse Flowers (written by Leo Barnes, Jeremiah Fehily, Fiachna O'Braonain, Liam O'Maonlai, Peter O'Toole and Dave Stewart) to see what I mean... |

Now this is a great song by a beautiful woman who really enjoys being a beautiful woman.
Now why shouldn't "we" be allowed to feel this way too? *smile* Don't know what I'm talkin' about? Just check out Shania Twain's Man! I Feel Like A Woman (written by Robert John "Mutt" Lange and Shania Twain)! |

This song was sent in by Carol.
Heart's Bebe Le Strange album stood in my shelf for years but I never discovered this song. Now let's see waht Carol writes about it: This first song is by an American band called Heart. The song is called Strange Night, on their album called "Bebe le strange". Whileit doesn't explicitly say that it's about cross-dressing, I feel that it implies it very strongly. Well, thank you very much Carol for making me aware of this great song. By the way it was written by Ann Wilson, Sue Ennis & Nancy Wilson - 3 genetic girls! wow!) |

Here's another one I got from Carol:
Next is a song by the British band, the Kinks. No, not "Lola", this next song wasn't a hit for them. As a matter of fact, I have never heard this one on the radio ever. It's about a hetero CD and it's called Out Of The Wardrobe from their "Misfits" album. Thanks again, Carol. I've got nothing to add to your words but the author's name (well, anyone who is just a little familiar with the Kinks' music might already have guessed it's Ray Davies *smile*) |

Well, usually Musicals are not my cup of tea. But here's a wonderful song from the Musical "Elisabeth", by Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay, which portraits the life of the legendary Austrian empress. It's a german song titled Ich gehör nur mir, best translated as "I only belong to myself". I don't know if there's already an official English version of this song, so I added my own translation. In order to keep the spirit of the song alive I tried to translate the original lyrics as accurate as possible, regardles of rhyme and rhythm. |

Now here's Best Of Both Worlds by Robert Palmer.
Well, everybody knows this song, and I'm sure everybody's got their own key to the lyrics. I sure got mine - you figure it out! (wink) |
