DEAR
EDITOR
-1-
Recently my boy friend and I had the most
horrific experience at my party, which I had organized only for
my close and special friends at a Farm House on the 12th of July.
We invited only those whom we wanted to share the evening with
and arranged and budgeted accordingly.
But to our absolute shock, we discovered hoards
of uninvited "self-imposed" guests walking in as soon
as the party started. Some of these even masqueraded as being
invitees of our genuine guests while others shamelessly strolled
in at their leisure.
As if the shock of seeing so many uninvited
"friends" was not enough, we were horrified to see
these "guests" gulping down beverages and food meant
for our genuine guests. No wonder our guests were left with empty
glasses while the uninvited guests had their full !!
Also strangely, when a volunteer group
organised a pay party for much needed funds for the HIV &
AIDS awareness, all of these "socialites" were
conspicuous by their absence.
I strongly feel that those of you who came to
our party uninvited, should refrain from doing so ever again. It
is high time to realize the significance of this letter. Why
should I pay for your free loading ???However I have no
complaints from those for whom prior permissions were taken. Gate
crashers, will you please take note of it !! -A-TWO, Vasant

Congratulations on launching of first issue of
Darpan, it seems that for the first time, there is a serious
attempt from the capital gays. The contents were quite
interesting specially it was nice to learn about what our city
folks were doing 200 years back in the history. The author has
done quite intensive research to re-enact an era which is past
but not forgotten. Apart from it me and my friends strongly felt-
that something was missing in this issue. Well if you ask me WHAT
- then very frankly I don't have any answer. It is rather
difficult to pinpoint. But we request you to look into it. Maybe
something more can be added to Darpan to make it more complete in
itself. --Nafrat Fata Wali Khan- Green Park

Kudos your cover story "Ladke Dilli shahr
ke...", it fits into the structure of the maiden venture of
Darpan. I suggest if you can request the author to continue this
history as a sequel, as this historical angle reinforces the
community pride. My other friends from Bombay & Banglore too
join me in acknowledging your endeavors. Keep it up !! -P.S.

Congratulations!! It was great to finally see
something happening in Delhi. The city desperately needed to
express itself in her own voice- it was like a old dream coming
true- as for long time we were contemplating to create something
like this. Make sure you double the contents from the next issue
& reach the likes of TRIKONE in a year. All the best. -S.K.

Great attempt. Darpan looked quite
professional. Consider improving on the contents, formatting
& layout etc. in the future issues. I offer my services if
needed by you. -Vicky Ram
