Blue Ridge Mountain Bass Club is a small tournament fishing club based in Roanoke, VA. Our home lake is Smith Mountain Lake, which is located mainly in Bedford and Franklin County, VA. We currently have 22 members competing in teams of two. We fish monthly tournaments from March through October, and in addition to Smith Mountain Lake, we compete on lakes such as John H Kerr Reservoir, Lake Moomaw, Philpot Lake, Lake Gaston, the Chickaominy River, the Potomac River, Claytor Lake, and South Holston Reservoir. There is a 5 fish limit per team per tournament day. Despite some lakes allowing fish smaller than 12 inches to be kept, we have instituted a 12 inch minimum size limit. We practice catch and release and only dead fish and trophy fish as defined by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries may be kept. Each tournament has a cash payout for first through third places. We also have a big fish pot. Points are earned for placement in each tournament to determine overall rank. The lowest place score for each team for the year is thrown out and, at the end of the year, the first place team in points will receive a cash prize. We may also have an end of year tournament for additional prize money. This is not an open club. To become a member, you must be nominated by a current member and approved.
