CHAPTER 17: FAREWELL, GOODNIGHT, GOODBYE

Tara slinked around the house, Kevin had told her the news, that meant simply she wasn’t needed anymore and she could fly home. She smiled as he told her, but the truth was she didn’t want to return, she had nothing to return to. A family that wouldn’t embrace her when she returned and a life of non existent friends. She’d left them all behind to venture here, now – she had to go back.

“So did Kev tell you the news?” Brian questioned as he strolled into the house
“Yeah he did” she replied sadly
“Something wrong?”
“I’ll be leaving soon” she whispered
Brian’s eyes slammed open. His divorce had gone through in the last 2 weeks and he was ready to start up a new relationship.

“Why?”
“With Kevin staying home, I don’t need to look after Sammy, my job here is over”
“Can’t you stay on anyway?”
She chuckled slightly
“I can only stay if I don’t work, and even then the government would probably kick me out, and I cant live if I cant work, see how it all adds up”
“Then, live with me”
“Brian, no” Tara sighed turning away
“Okay, then marry me”
Tara spun around, her eyes locking with his.
“I'm not going to marry you just to stay here Brian, you shouldn’t ask for such a thing” she sighed, that would have been completely the wrong reason to marry and she knew it
“Why? I love you, and I think you love me, why don’t we just do it” Brian explained
“You love me?” she questioned, wonder filling her eyes
“More than that” he smiled
“You really want to do this?”
“I wanna be your husband, if you’ll be my wife”
“Brian I don’t know what to say”
“Yes, say yes”
tears swelled in her eyes as she slowly nodded “Yes”

~ 1 MONTH LATER ~

The news had spread like rapid fire, The Backstreet Boys were breaking up……

Some media outlets had tried to plug that a fight had caused the break up, but the mere fact the guys appeared together all the time made it pretty obvious those weren’t the reasons.

The finale show was tonight and the huge arena was already packed to capacity, the tickets selling for hundreds each. Mostly the boys had given tickets to radio stations for “Biggest Fan Competitions” this was basically done because all of the guys knew the people that should be there are the ones that have supported them all the way through. The show was also been aired on TV and would later be aired around the world, hot off the satellite. The show consisted of clips of their earlier days, and songs they sung a long time ago, a basic time line of music that spanned the long period they had been The Backstreet Boys.

The lights went low, as they geared up to make the best and last performance of their lifetime.
