I began creating 'earthworks' in 1996 while living in Nanaimo. I saw some rock balancing on a visit to English Bay, Vancouver - but wanted to take it up a notch. They, and others, were balancing single stones, while others built Inukshuks. I wanted to do more esthetically challeging forms, more sculptural with just as much fragility and gravity defyingness.
