Global Connections Coffee Emporium Mural & Signage |
Commissioned in the summer of 1997, it was the first large mural I did. More signage and imagery was added after the initial mural was completed. |
The complete wall space is about 9 feet high x 24 feet long. It was modelled after a mural inside Global Connections by another local artist. It is done in exterior semi-gloss latex and marine paint on top. It took about a month, doing touch-ups on a part-time basis. About 30 - 40 hours at a cost of about $350 + supplies. |
During the painting of the mural, the local paper came by to do an interview and bring publicity both to me as an artist and to Global Connections, as they were a new business in town. read the article here |
This signage is on the back of the building overlooking the seawall walking pathway and Nanaimo Harbor. The exposure helps to bring in customers who are walking below Global Connections. The signage stands about 8 feet in height. |
This signage is on the front entrance of the building. Behind the canopy is a patio overlooking Nanaimo Harbor. The design is a motif that replicates the motif that is inside the coffee emporium. |
