ITINERARY
Home
Throughout the trip we will be camping at recognised camp sites, although some of these will actually be out 'in the bush', such as in The Serengeti and at Nakuru National Park.
There will be opportunities every day to meet with local
African people, and gain an insight into their culture and way of life.

Friday 13 July:
Depart Acklam Grange School in the early evening, and travel by coach to Newcastle Airport.
Depart Newcastle Airport at 1955 on Flight SN 2192.
Arrive Brussels Airport at 2215.
Overnight hotel accommodation at the Holiday Inn, Brussels Airport.

Saturday 14 July:
Depart Brussels Airport at 1040 on Flight SN 0463.
Arrive Jomo Kenyetta Airport, Nairobi at 2225.
Meet driver/guide and cook, and load up the
Safari Truck.
Overnight Camp on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Sunday 15 July:
Strike camp after breakfast and drive for two to three hours, along a very scenic route out of Nairobi onto the Rift Escarpment.
Drive down to Lake Naivasha for an overnight camp at the Fish Eagle campsite.
In the afternoon we will be visiting
Elsamere.

Monday 16 July:
Visit
Crescent Island on Lake Naivasha.
Visit
Hells Gate National Park for a Bicycle Safari and a gorge exploration.
Visit Longonot Primary School.
Overnight camp at Fish Eagle campsite, Lake Naivasha.

Tuesday 17 July:
Strike camp after breakfast, and take a very scenic drive before taking an early lunch at Nakuru. Enter the
Lake Nakuru National Park after lunch for an afternoon game drive.
Overnight  "bush" camp in the Lake Nakuru National Park.

Wednesday 18 July:
Morning game drive in the Nakuru National Park.
Strike camp and leave the park after a late lunch.
Stop off at Nakuru for shopping, and drive to
Lake Baringo.
Overnight camp at Roberts Campsite, Lake Baringo.

Thursday 19 July:
Boat Trip and Nature Walk in the Lake Baringo area.
Visit Kapsoi School to meet the pupils and play a volleyball match.
Overnight Camp at Roberts Campsite, Lake Baringo.

Friday 20 July:
Strike camp after breakfast, and drive to
Kakamega Rain Forest via Eldoret.
In the afternoon there will be some short forest walks.
Overnight camp in the Kakamega Rain Forest.

Saturday 21 July:
Further walks in the Kakamega tropical rain forest.
Strike camp after lunch and take a short two hour drive to Kericho.
Overnight camp at
Kericho Tea Plantation.

Sunday 22 July:
Strike camp after breakfast.
From Kericho, we drive into the Masai Mara reserve.
Night time game drive.
Overnight "bush" camp at
Mara Springs camp site on the bank of the Sekenani River .

Monday 23 July:
All-day game drive in the Masai Mara - July is the time when the annual wildebeest migration is in this area.
Late afternoon walking safari in the Mara Springs area.
Overnight "bush" camp at Mara Springs.

Tuesday 24 July:
Early lunch at the entrance to the
Serengeti National Park.
Enter the western corridor, and spend all afternoon on a game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Overnight "bush" camp at Seronera, in the heart of the Serengeti.

Wednesday 25 July:
Early morning game drive in the Serengeti before breakfast.
Strike camp after breakfast, and continue on a game drive until lunchtime when we enter the Ngorongoro National Park.
Visit a
Maasai village.
An afternoon game drive up to the rim of the
Ngorongoro Crater.
Overnight camp at Simba Camp on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Thursday 26 July:
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater by a four wheel drive landrover for a game drive.
Strike camp in the afternoon and drive to
Meserani Snake Park, Arusha.
Overnight camp at Meserani Snake Park.

Friday 27 July:
Visit
Lesiraa School to meet the pupils, and see the building project funded by Acklam Grange School.
Take part in a sports event with the pupils, (soccer match/volleyball match).

Overnight camp at Meserani.

Saturday 28 July:
Shopping in Arusha, (for Lesiraa School, and then personal shopping).
Overnight camp at Meserani.

Sunday 29 July:
Camel ride in the bush.
Visit the Meserani Maasai Culture Museum, Education Centre and Medical Centre.
Visit a swimming pool in Arusha.
Overnight camp at Meserani.

Monday 30 July:
Host a Sports Day at Lesiraa School.
Visit some of the pupils in their Maasai homes.
Overnight camp at Meserani.

Tuesday 31 July:
Strike camp after breakfast.
Drive about seven hours, (330 km.), to Nairobi, crossing the Kenyan border en route.
Evening meal at
Carnivores, Nairobi.
Overnight camp on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Wednesday 1 August:
Visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Sanctuary and
Splash Water Park in Nairobi.
Pack.
Depart Nairobi Airport at 2105 on Flight SN 0481.

Thursday 2 August:
Arrive Brussels Airport at 0605.
Depart Brussels Airport at 0935 on Flight SN 2173.
Arrive Manchester Airport at 0955.
Travel by coach back to Acklam Grange School.
