April 11
June called the meeting to order. A moment of silence was held for those that passed or were
sick.
Secretary’s report was read and approved.
Treasurer reported for end of 1998: report was approved.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS REPORT:
Chet Burnett resigned from board.
TOC COMMITTEE REPORT:
The AHPA is 50 years old. To celebrate this the TOC is having a raffle. This raffle is
supposed to promote the AHPA to other people as well
as give AHPA members a chance to win prizes. The winner will be drawn at the 1999 TOC.
OLD BUSINESS:
We as members need to promote all tournaments. Not just your clubs. New people joining
the AHPA also need to be informed of the
tourneys and how fun they can be.
NEW BUSINESS:
This year there will be no state jackets given to winners of top-flight divisions. They will
get shirts instead. If we have 100 people entered in tourney and or 500 members in the
AHPA there will be shirts for all division winners. There was a lot of discussion on this from
members present. It was stated that this was a financial decision. There is not enough people
pitching in state to pay for the cost of jackets. Some of the top-flight pitchers that have won more
than once say they can’t wear all of them at once anyway.
Bob Henderson made motion to raise entry fee from $15 to $20 for state tournament. Chuck Grothe
2nd. The extra money would be to pay for state jackets. Ron Holliday made motion to table it to
rally day. Ron Lane 2nd. Lots of discussion followed. Motion to table carried,
Tom Shrader made motion to give jacket to a first time winner of top-flight. 2nd time or more
winners will get a shirt and the new year put on jacket they already have. Bob Henderson 2nd
motion. Carol Donaldson made motion to send this to board for financial reasons. After some
discussion her motion was withdrawn. Above motion was voted on and carried. It was stated
that the above motion would start in 2000 since this year was
already taken care of.
To get points for showing up at tournaments even if it rains you must sign sign-up sheet.
One point will be given just for showing up. For those that don’t know here are points
awarded: Overall winner 8 points. Division winner 6 points. 2nd place 4 points. and 1 point
or showing up. At the end of the year points are totaled and highest number gets a plaque.
There are two winners one for handicap and one of actual. 2nd place receives a plaque too.
Alvin Corbin replaced Cecil Lunsford on the Board of Directors. Chet Burnett resigned so we
need to replace him. Bob Henderson was added to Board of Directors.
Chet Burnett made motion to adjourn. Tracy White 2nd. Meeting adjourned.
