Started the day off getting new Soundblaster Live!
drivers from the Creative webpage. Much nicer than the standard
Win2k drivers. I had all four of my FPS 1000's working instead
of just the fronts. Now, on to the exciting news. UPS
was on my hitlist for delivering my RAM at like 6:30 at night and
generally pissing me off. My Klipsch speakers came in at 3:30.
If anyone has seen the FPS 1000 speakers at a CompUSA or Best Buy
you'll know what I'm comparing them to. First off, the Klipsch
sub is literally 3 to 4 times the size of that sub. It barely
fits under my desk with my computer. The satellites are 3
times taller than the FPS 1000's. And they're all 2 times
the weight too. Set them up, booted up the comp.... but no
sound. I was freakin out. Turns out you're not supposed
to plug the speakers in until AFTER you plug them into the soundcard.
I was semi-worried for a second. I reseated the soundcard
and booted it up again. Right before I shutdown, I set the
startup sound to the THX sound you hear in the theaters. Oh
MAN!!! These speakers were only up 10% and it blew my mind!!!
It was so loud. Yes, loud is good man, but was it clear?
Clearer than the air (unless you live in Mexico City). My
lord, these babies pump it out. Next trial was with a cd.
The cd test went well, it was like my old speakers only much louder
and the bass was MUCH more defined. A good difference but
still...not a justifiable difference. I then booted up Quake
3: Arena. When the game started, my jaw dropped. Every
explosion, every scream, every step was so clearly audible I couldn't
believe it. I could almost play the game with my eyes shut.
The speakers paint such a clear picture of everything surrounding
you it's unbelieveable. Then, I picked up a rocket launcher
and my world was turned upside down. When I came into contact
with a rocket it threw me out of my seat. These are literally
everything I had hoped for. Loud, clear, precise, and they
really point out any flaws in sound. Some of my mp3's I ripped
from a tape. When played back I didn't notice anything but
volume difference. Now, I hear the little tape player noise
and it's annoying. I have to find some new mp3's for the speakers.
Oh man. These are the best. You have no idea.
Get these speakers now!!! Anyway, I'm outta here.

Start of a new week. A long long week.
My Klipsch Pro Medias are comin in on Thursday!! You can bet
I'll have a full article talking about them then. Final chance
drawing for Diablo II Beta test is Monday. So after that,
if you didn't get in, you're in the same boat as I'm in. Dreading
the oncoming month. Cable in May, Diablo II in May (I hope),
school lets out in May, my birthday is in May (hint I hear RAM
is pretty low now heh) Fair warning: Star Trek Armada doesn't tide
well with nVidia graphics cards and I hear reviews for Force Commander
say the game sucks. Dated graphics and adds nothing new to
the RTS world. So much for salvation. Guess it's gonna
be all about Diablo II. Man... Can't wait for the Klipsch.
Umm.. Still working on a new contact page, I'm just lazy, and otherwise
that page is barren anyway. I may have to add new ways to
get a hold of me. Throw my phone number up there or something.
=) Anyway, I'm outta here.
March 24, 2000
Finally got a generic message board up. It's
the new dark button on the bar. Can't miss it's miscolored-ness.
Message boards are like bulletin boards in real life. Just
a way to post a quick message for public view. Whenever I
find a good way to make a more personal and customized message board,
I will, I can't stand the geocities stuff. The little annoying
window is bad enough. Still need to revamp the contact page
because... well because it sucks. Diablo II beta list up.
Stupid Blizzard always conning me out of my fun. Oh well.
Star Trek Armada and Star
Wars Force Commander are some new releases, perhaps they can
keep me quietly entertained until then. Actually, if you have
Total Annihilation Kingdoms, the Iron Plague Expansion pack is really
really fun. And I hated TA: Kingdoms too. Square recently
released some release date info on a few games I've been waiting
FOREVER for: Legend of Mana (sequel to Secret of Mana) mid summer
release, Chrono Cross early fall, and Final Fantasy IX October (rumor).
On to movies! Saw Romeo Must Die, full of action and full
of boring parts. Not bad overall, some of those action scenes
were intense. Anyway, gonna redo the contact page sometime
before Diablo II comes out maybe, and then maybe I'll go public
with this page or something. Who knows. March news page
is also up. Signin out for now
March 15, 2000
What's up everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying
their Spring Break (or if you had yours already, did enjoy).
The Diablo II Beta signup will be held on monday here.
I've been doing a lot of Diablo II fact finding and tipping off
info to sites which is cool. My name is up in several places.
Diabloii.com has my name up
(real name, forgot to sign with Akuo), Diabloii.net
also had (has I think, I think it got pushed down a bit) my name
up. Check this

Azrael--: The Diabloii.com webmaster, MHuang: Mike
Huang, Diablo II Blizzard webmaster, IndigoDementia: Another lucky
Diablo II Blizzard employee, Flux from Diabloii.net, and me on TopazChat
on top and Warcraft II BNE on bottom. Channel Diablo II USA-2
early this morning on Battle.Net. Went back earlier today
and -capslock- (another Blizz emp) made mention of how close they
really are to the beta announcement. Met Bill Roper in the
channel too. You can almost feel it in the air you know?
That magical time when something really fantastically big is going
to happen. On to other topics, signed up for cable service
in town. All you Lubbock folk listen up: Installation charge
is $150 and the modem is $250 (both of which can be spread out over
your first 3 months). For existing Cox customers, the service
is $29.99 otherwise it's $39.99. I'll be (supposedly) the
32nd person in Lubbock to get it in the first week of May.
So until then... Catch you all later.
March 9, 2000
Probably old news, but 4th race in Warcraft III -
Undead. Somehow I'm not terribly surprised, but units include
necromancer, vampire-like creatures, anti-paladins type characters,
and death knights (not similar to War II DK) Diablo II Collector's
Edition on sale at EBWorld
now. Cable Sign ups start at 4pm at the Civic Center on Friday(3/10)
for all you Lubbock people.

Look at that box!! How could you not want that?
Oh, for all you nVidia card owners, you can grab the new Detonator
5.08 drivers at ReactorCritical.
Unbelievable performance enhancements, at least 30% in some instances.
Also enables S3TC, and (gasp) Full Screen Anti-Aliasing!!
3dfx boys, suck on that! Ha! Still looking for a forum
script, and like I said, I may be adding one or two pictures to
the gallery, undetermined yet. Jetting off now. Later.
March 7, 2000
Added some info to the about me section. Sign
up for Cox@Home cable
modem service starts on Friday and goes on through Sunday at the
Civic Center at a Home & Garden show. Why a Home &
Garden show, I have no clue, I'm not the Cox marketing geniuses.
I'll be patiently waiting outside the doors begging for some cable
action. 3 of the top Blizzard staff members quit yesterday
and formed Triforge.
Kinda sad, but I'm sure they'll either make just as awesome games,
or go back to Blizzard. It was the Battle.Net head programmer,
Team Lead on the secret project, and the Vice President of Research
and Development. They're also looking for applicants on their
webpage if anyone is interested. I decided not to plug up
the ski pictures as they came out so poorly that I'm only going
to add like one or two pictures to the main gallery. Anyway,
I'm outta here for now.
March 3, 2000
Probably postponing remodeling the contact page until
Sunday when I also am planning on adding a new picture gallery of
my skiing trip. Blizzard
pulls a fast one on us by releasing a special collector's edition
of Diablo II.
Blizzard Entertainment announces a one-time production
run of Diablo II Collector's Edition. Available only during Diablo
II's initial launch, this special edition will be offered in limited
quantities. The Collector's Edition will include Diablo II on
four CD-ROMs, a 24-minute Diablo II cinematic on DVD in wide-screen
letter box format, the Diablo II soundtrack with 70 minutes of
music, the Wizards of the Coast pencil-and-paper role-playing
game based on the AD&D rule set and a Diablo II manual signed
by the development team. Diablo II Collector's Edition will be
available exclusively at Babbages, Electronics Boutique and direct
from Blizzard. The expected price for the product will be $60
- $70.
Very very cool. Beyond cool actually.
I don't even have a DVD player and I'm going to get it. I'm
such a freak that way. Bought the Diana Krall cd When I Look
In Your Eyes. Pretty good when you're in one of those, "I'm
stuck in the house and have nothing better to do that read a book
(or play Starcraft) moods." $18 for cd's is outrageous
now though. I think I should've ordered it from CDNow...
Oh, I'm sponsored now, so hit the links to the side to make me a
happy, happy person. I'm thinking about adding a message forum
too, for no particular reason but to get used to html and web design
and such, so look for that in the future sometime. For now,
I'm outta here.
March 2, 2000
Finally redesigned the picture galleries. Yes
all of them. Fair warning, they're now slightly larger and
no, I'm not going to compress them. All you whiny children
can beg for cable modems or ADSL modems so you can download those
pages in 2 seconds like I can. Ok, so I'm a little miffed
about the whole Southwestern Bell incident. Oh well...
Just another day. Site News is done being updated as well.
Next on my hitlist is the Contact page because it sucks. 2
days off, and no tests so I'll be right on top of it. Should
be done by weekend's end. Until then, have fun. *Quick Update*
Download the Metal Fatigue demo from www.3dfiles.com!!!
The demo is intense! Graphically stunning, and has a lot of
cool Starcraft-esque features. Already gets two thumbs up.
Also, I'm somewhat immortalized on www.diabloii.net
Go check it out! It'll be down by next week, but still cool
to have my name on something right?
March 1, 2000
First of all, I hate Southwestern Bell now.
They've teased me long enough with ADSL and every time I think I'm
eligible they take it away from me. So, once again, no ADSL,
and no Diablo II make Tim go something something... Check
Site News for an update. UltraHLE
1.5.0 is very close to being finished. If you want to see
what N64 games look like on an ultra sharp computer monitor, go
download that via my download section or using the link. Diablo
II status: final tweaks and bug squishing on 3rd and 4th cd, battle.net
is being polished up, overall game is being optimized for PI 200
on 32MB RAM, and beta version nearing completion. I don't
think I've ever been this anxious for a game that I'm completely
obsessing over it. Oh well, added a Falling Jupiter picture
to the picture gallery page (that I still haven't finished remodeling)
for your viewing enjoyment. Anyway, I think it's go time so
I'm gone.
