This is something that Dana sent out this morning.
I felt it was a well-timed reminder:

Up to you
One way or another, you will get something accomplished today.
Exactly what you get accomplished is up to you.
The hours of this day will go by, no matter what you do.
What you get from them is up to you.

The world is filled with challenges, frustrations, joys and opportunities.
What you make of them is up to you.
Some of the people around you will praise you and encourage you,
others will curse you and oppose you, still others will ignore you.
Yet the way you respond is completely up to you.

You can hide away from life or you can dive into its glorious richness.
Some people will help you, others will hurt you,
yet no one can live your own unique life for you.
The way you experience this priceless gift of life is now
 and always up to you.

Thanks, Dana!

It's a subject I talk about frequently, but I can't believe how fast time goes by. Here it is the end of August already! Wasn't it just yesterday that I was excitedly anticipating going to visit my family in Florida? It doesn't seem that long ago when I found out I was going to be a grandma. For that matter, it doesn't seem that long ago when I found out I was expecting with Kevin, and yet, his 21st birthday is less than 2 weeks away!

As much as I complain about not having time for everything I want to do, it does show one positive thing. It shows that I'm always keeping busy. You'll rarely, if ever, hear me complain about being bored. If, for some reason, I'm prevented from doing something I want to do, I find something else to work on. If I've completed a task or project, I look for something else to do. So, although I complain that I don't have time for everything, I can be happy knowing my life is full.

Since the accident, my ability to multi-task has diminished. Although I can still do several things at the same time, I am not as efficient as I once was. I find myself more easily distracted than before. This is very frustrating to me, but I guess I have to learn to accept it.

We went over to visit Kim yesterday. She has issues to deal with in her life now. It wouldn't be right for me to discuss them online, but I wish I was more effective at providing the advice she needs. { O } (Big hug to Kim!) On the brighter side, John was able to repair the computer system she had purchased from CompUSA that had beem giving her problems. He fixed it and reloaded her operating system, saving her over a hundred dollars. Also, she had been unable to use her Roadrunner since it was installed in May. Come to find out, it was because they had not provided her with the correct cable modem when they installed it. She called to complain, and all they did to compensate her was give her a $20 credit on her bill for the inconvenience. As much as I like the quickness of Roadrunner, they are definitely not customer-focused. Sharon had an orderal with them earlier this year, where they incorrectly installed cables, took almost a week to come back to fix it, and left a hole in her garage ceiling, which they still have not repaired.

My E-bay transactions went smoothly. I had e-mails going back and forth to both places since my main address is a post office box. One place ended up shipping to where I work, and the other shipped USPS instead of UPS since I didn't want these things sitting out on my porch. I had both items in less than a week. The cell phone headset has been wonderful, and I'm actually able to work on things with both hands while I'm rambling on the phone. We tested the birthday gift for Kevin, just to make sure there weren't any problems, and it works perfectly. Maybe I'll try to sell my yard sale stuff on E-bay instead.

I'm so glad we have a three-day weekend! (more time to do the stuff I want to do!) We're having Kim, Kevin, Ashley, and Linda over tomorrow for a cookout. Kim wanted to go to a park, but the latest weather forecast indicates a rainy day tomorrow.

Well, it's time to go work on something else. Enjoy your weekend!
