The theme of the day from is:

Fences

Fences
The picture above is of wooden fences in front of my brother's house. I'm fairly certain that he built them, although, now that I'm writing this, I have to admit I don't know that for a fact.

February seems to be the month for interviews for us. John and I both had interviews yesterday, I have another one scheduled for today, and John has another one scheduled for Monday. Ironically, I haven't even been trying that hard the last couple of weeks. It just seemed pointless, like beating your head against a wall for months for nothing. However, most of these interviews have come from resumes submitted in January. We're still receiving letters from places we applied to last year saying, "thank you for your interest...due to the high volume of responses... your resume will be kept on file for 6 months...blah blah blah....". I feel a lot of empathy toward hiring managers and human resouce departments, though. Not only do they have to find the perfect candidate for whatever opening they have, they are overwhelmed with mail and phone calls from potential candidates.

I'm disappointed that I doesn't look like I will be able to continue a career in purchasing. However, I have to be realistic. The job outlook for buyers and purchasing managers is bleak, as more purchases are made electronically, and smaller companies that are downsizing are finding that the purchasing function can be condensed into another employee's job responsibilities. It's time to focus on finding an accounting position where my skills will transfer to.

Thank you to everyone for your positive vibes, support, and prayers.

Thanks for reading!
