The theme of the day from is: Waiting
Inspiration: This week's theme was sent in by Joe Schilling.
(I didn't include a link to Joe's site because it would crash my browser.
If you want to take a chance, please visit Stephanie's Theme Thursday, which includes a link to his site.)
He suggested, "waiting for the train, bus, plane, etc....that special event--wedding, birth, graduation, etc....for change--the sun to shine, the rain to stop, the light to turn green, etc." Show us what you're waiting for.
When I bake and the air is filled with sweet and spicy scents, I can't wait for the kitchen timer to go off.
I can't wait to check to see if it looks and tastes as good as it smells.
I consider myself a patient person, but I'm rarely patient with myself.
I couldn't wait to get through high school, to get married, to have children.
I couldn't wait for Kevin to learn to walk and talk.
I couldn't wait to get through college and find a "real" job.
When I was much younger, I would ask, "are we there yet?" repeatedly when traveling.
When I was with my grandmother, she would always reply, "not yet, but just sit back and enjoy the ride".
I should have really listened to Grandma's advice.
In countless everyday situations, I have wished time away.
I couldn't wait for Friday, and then the weekend would be gone before I knew it.
I couldn't wait for Spring, and before long, it would be the end of Summer.
See the pattern?
For the past six weeks, I've been wishing that I would find a better job opportunity quickly.
Although I've tried to maintain a positive attitude, there have been times filled with frustration.
After the 3-day job workshop, I realize that it is totally understandable to be so frustrated.
It's a normal part of coping with job loss, especially knowing the reality of today's job market in the Rochester area.
Instead of anxiously waiting for a new job opportunity, I should enjoy the process of job searching.
Being laid off has given me the opportunity to reflect on my skills, my values, and the time to consider major changes, such as a new career or even relocating.
Instead of an endless cycle of working, eating, cleaning, sleeping, I now have time to research and reflect while seeking my next employer.
Instead of stressing over it, I should "just sit back, and enjoy the ride".
Thanks for reading!
