It's Indian Summer in upstate New York. This is probably the last time we'll see temps up into the sixties until next spring. It's been so windy, that most of the leaves have already blown off the trees.

I've made the most of the weekend. Friday afternoon I had a doctor's appointment, so I left work early, went to the doctors, and then out for a fish fry at the family restaurant that Kevin works at in the evening. Saturday morning, I hung sheets and laundry out to dry (probably for the last time this year), and went to a rummage sale in Victor. They had a bag sale starting at noon, so I picked up a radio, candles, a tealight holder, The Galloping Gourmet Cookbook, published in 1969, French Onion soup crocks, and Christmas decorations, all for only one dollar. "One man's trash is another man's treasure"!

From there, we took off to Newark to donate an old Epson printer and an old monitor, that someone had given John, to the Salvation Army. While we were there I spotted a woman's long gray wool coat for $12! It was like new, so I grabbed it. I've been looking around for a new wool coat lately, since the black one I have is 7 years old, and we're obviously not moving to Florida any time soon. The coats I've been looking at are over $100 at the mall, over $75 dollars at online stores like Chadwicks, over $50 at a consigment shop, so this was a great bargain for me! I dry cleaned it with my home dry cleaning kit when I got home, and I'm ready for the return of bitter cold weather. (Actually, I'm never ready for bitter cold weather, but... I'll have to make do.)

From there, we went to Hanna Junction in Canandaigua. It's a unique farm and craft market. I forgot to bring my camera, and their web site doesn't do it justice. If you're ever in the area on a Saturday, try to make a point to stop by. It's on Route 21, two miles north of Canandaigua. It's indoors, so they are open until right before Christmas. They have a farm fresh produce (I picked up 2 heads of lettuce and 2 acorn squash for $2.), many crafts and specialty item booths, and a food court. I saw many things that I wanted, but didn't need, so I resisted the impulse to buy. (lol)

We made a few more stops on the way home, including a new gift store on main street in Canandaigua, called Celebration Gifts. This is my kind of store: candles, novely items, stuffed animals, and other trinkets. I resisted the tempation to buy everything in the store, and just bought a small yankee jar candle and lighthouse topper. (You have to understand that I love candles, especially Yankee candles, and I love lighthouses too!) John said to consider it another late birthday gift. I didn't like the scent they had on sale (citrus), so the owner gave me the sale price on the Home for the Holidays scent.

After dinner, we watched a couple of videos we had rented at Movie Mania, using one of the rent one, rent one free coupons in the Entertainment Book. We rented Pumpkin, and Death to Smoochy. Pumpkin wasn't too bad, but Death to Smoochy was terrible. I expected something better from Robin Williams and Danny DeVito. Neither of these movies had a "rewatchability" factor.

Today, I pulled the rest of the annuals out of the flower beds, cleaned the inside of my car, repotted some indoor plants, caught up on e-mails, researched the tech school that Kevin wants to go to, made some minor changes to Web Page # 1, etc., etc. I wanted to rake all of the leaves that haven't blown into the field into a huge pile, but my physical therapist told me to stop using my shoulder like that. (I am so frustrated with being limited from that !@##!!*#*!! car accident!!!!!!!! (Please excuse my swearing.)) I also wrote some letters and got caught up on some other misc. stuff.

I renamed my rabbit again. (Hopefully, this is the last time!) She lost her brown and red highlights. (must have been baby fur) Now she's different shades of gray, with a black face, tail and ears, and light gray on the tips of her paws. She's almost 8 weeks old, and her looks change on almost a daily basis. Her eyes have darkened to a dark brown. "Smokey" seems more fitting of a name than Dustee or Amber.

Smokey
