I decided to add this page as a began thinking of nonviolence and how it relates to how we should live and think. How this relates to proper use of our bodies and those as our guests inside them.
Most violence begins when we see the other as less than human or less than us.This includes blacks,Jews, gays, unborn babies, the elderly. Even nature and our abuse of it starts here
It occured to me that many people might check out a celibacy page because of past hurts that were making them avoid sex; and one of those hurts might be a past abortion or a present pregnancy.
I figured that most people checking out abortion web sites might already be pro-life and those that really needed the info might be passing them by. I didn't want to turn people off right at first but hopefully pique their interest to consider alternatives to abortion

Roaming the internet, you'd get the impression that
Christian's had monopoly on
the pro-life movement. And it's not just because virtually
every Christian web
site has a pro-life ribbon, but because the pro-abortion
movement seems to feel
that to be pro-life means to be a Christian.
I am not - yet - a Christian. I am not close minded to the views of Christianity, in fact I'm exploring it's teachings, but I wouldn't call myself a Christian. I'm even wobbly when it comes to the existence of God, but unlike Ken and Tony, and many other atheist wannabes, I don't believe that being a Christian is a bad thing. (a quick aside - why do atheists feel the desperate need to a) organize, and b) prove God doesn't exist?)
I'm pro-life. With the exception of very limited reasons, I don't believe that stop-and-drop abortions should be easily had. And I won't believe for a moment that one-and-a-half million annual abortions are young teenagers, or rape and incest victims. It's a response to failing to act responsibly, a convenience. While I realize that many people act very responsibly, and still end up with an unexpected pregnancy, removing those numbers from the grand total of annual abortions doesn't cause the statistics to drop significantly. If it did, there would be a class action suit against condom manufacturers for making unsafe safes.
The old, "would you force a 14-year old girl to have a baby?" begs two questions: What's a girl that young doing having sex? And, how can we be so gung-ho on preventing kids smoking and doing drugs, but sex at a young age is "Okay"? And none of that "they're going to do it anyway" routine. That's a cop-out, from someone who isn't willing to impose rules on their kids. Why try to teach them right from wrong? Why teach them anything? Afraid of alienating them? Considering the alternative, that's a small and likely temporary penalty to pay, if it means your kid will be graduated from high school without pushing a pram to commencement.
Notice how I have yet to use the words "God", "Christ", "Bible", or "morals". Go ahead - tell me I'm wrong, but make sure you tell me why I'm wrong. Since I removed some of the weaponry from the pro-abortion arsenal, it won't be that easy. Without being able to attack Christianity and its "evils", there's not much to whine about.
I don't think I will ever understand how a society which spends millions of dollars for research in pre-natal care, and fetal surgery, can also be a society in which those same foetuses are not even seen as human. As I've asked before, why spend all that money to save something the pro-abortion movement would have us believe is nothing but a bundle of cells? Wouldn't that money be better spent elsewhere?
And how can we, in seeing the ever-more remarkable video footage of a child developing in its mother, not consider that little tiny object anything less than a human being? Finger, toes, eyes, arms, nose - all so obviously human. I know that in the embr yonic state, humans share many similarities with birds and fish. The difference is women are neither birds or fish. Weird, isn't it? That narrows down the number of species we might actually be looking at on those PBS and Learning Channel programs, and increases the odds that this little beating heart might be a human.
At which point does a foetus become a human? Or, in the terms of the pro-abortion crowd, when does "it" cease to be "part of a woman's body? Does being fed via an umbilical cord mean that the foetus is part of the woman? Does having a gas nozzle in your car mean Exxon owns your vehicle? Am I being juvenile with this reasoning? The umbilical cord is the only means by which the child can be fed, in the same way a gas station is the only way I can get my car filled. But this relationship, the supply of sustenance for the foetus or for my car, doesn't mean ownership of the child's "self" or of me and my car has been given up.
Thus, to me, the foetus is never part of a woman's body. She is the provider of life, and the vessel in which a tiny human is created and from which that human is ultimately delivered. It is an awesome, and awe-inspiring responsibility, the burden of which I do not envy. But it is that, a responsibility, to the foetus within, not to the people without. It is that tiny creature to which a woman owes her time and energy, before birth in the same way as she does after delivery.
In 1994, a Wirthlin post-election poll showed 51 percent of voters identified themselves as "pro-life", while only 43 percent considered themselves "pro-choice."
|
In 1996, Wirthlin's post-election poll corroborated the 1995 data, reporting that 60 percent of votes favored prohibiting elective abortion in most cases 53% believe abortion should be prohibited in all circumstances, or only to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape or incest.

This 53% is
broken down as follows:
The following statistics show how abortion supporters'
views are broken
down:
Only 9% believe abortion should be legal at any time during pregnancy for any reason.Wirthlin, November 1994.

Abortion
Sucks PageRather Graphic.
It bothers me when you realize how unregulated the field is. This is one example.
In any other instance, a doctor who has had is license
revoked, restricted or refused
in 5 states would not be allowed
to practice. Why are abortion doctors not held to the same
standards?
(State College, Pa.) ‹ Abortionist Steven Brigham and his
partner Eric Harrah have
received the
go-ahead from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to open an
abortion clinic near
Penn State
University. Medical authorities in five states have
revoked, restricted or refused
Brigham's medical
license. Several years ago, he forfeited his Pennsylvania
medical license to halt a probe
into his
business. Harrah, the clinic's administrator, was fined
$43,000 when another clinic he
operated
was cited for flushing unborn human remains into the sewer
system.
Still, the clinic
passed its state
Health Department inspection in late August, despite lack
of a written agreement with
a local
hospital to receive transfer patients. Centre Community,
the local hospital, refused to
sign an
agreement to accept Brigham and Harrah's patients who have
complications from
abortions.
Health Department officials waived the rule and approved
the abortion facility anyway.
Now only
one hurdle remains before opening: the clinic's lease.
Brigham and Harrah rented an
office suite
under the name of "State College Medical Services," leading
the owners of the building
to believe
the clinic would provide a full range of medical services.
When the owners learned that
the
business was an abortion clinic, they revoked the lease and
told Brigham and Harrah
to vacate.
The abortionists sued the landlords, and Centre County
Court Judge Charles Brown
will determine
this fall whether the landlords have a legal right to evict
the clinic from their building. If
the landlords
lose, they are expected to appeal the decision; however, a
clause in the lease does not
allow the
abortionists to appeal.

Quotes from Carolyn
Pro-life feminists want REAL choice for women. A REAL choice where women have the option to *choose* effective birth control, effective being the key word. A REAL choice when it comes to having a career and a child - women should not be in the situation where they either have an abortion or risk losing their job. What kind of choice is that?
Pro-life feminists reject abortion because they reject the view which accepts the use of violence to solve a problem. They want more than to just settle for mere equality of opportunity -- the opportunity to contribute equally to violence and and human rights abuses in society. Pro-life feminists seek to transform society to create a world that reflects true feminist ideals.
"True Feminist ideals" are part of a larger philosophy that values all life, including the life of the unborn. Feminists believe that all human beings have inherent worth - a worth which cannot be conferred or denied by someone else.
Abortion is completely incompatible with this feminist vision. Abortion makes the unborn and the mother enemies, and basically pits women against their own children so women can achieve "equality." For in today's society, women have not achieved true equality - they still must, many times, abort to be on an equal level politically, socially, and in the business world.
This does not mean that men are to blame for all abortions - they aren't. In fact, it is the men that respect the women, the ones that will take responsibility for their actions, and want the woman to keep the child and help in the raising of the child, that are seen as the "oppressors". They are the ones seen as controlling women, when in actuality, it is the irresponsible ones that are seen as "compassionate." The men who encourage women to abort, to avoid taking responsibility for their actions are the ones who do not respect women.
Abortion doesn't "liberate" woman - it "liberates" the people around them. For instance, employers do not have to make concessions to pregnant women and mothers. Schools do not have to accommodate to the needs of parents, and irresponsible men do not have to commit themselves to their partners or their children.
By accepting abortion, women have agreed to sacrifice their children for acceptance in society. Many feminists have given in to the standard which permits the treatment of "unequals" unequally, and for the powerful to oppress the weak. Isn't this what feminists fought *against*?
Women who refuse to accept the "choice" of abortion also refuse to participate in their own oppression and in the oppression of their children. Liberated women refuse abortion and all it represents.
As a pro-life feminist, I reject abortion and the idea of dominance that goes with it. We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life - the unborn - without diminishing the value of all human life.
Do I understand why women support abortion? Yes, I do. I see women discriminated against because they have children; I see women being abused and thus are scared to go through with a pregnancy for fear that the abuser will beat them more; I see women not getting equal job opportunities because they are pregnant or have children; I see women put in poverty because they are left by their partner to care for children alone.
But women should not be in these situations in the first place! Abortion is accepting of the Fact that women are not truly equal unless they are "not pregnant." Abortion does not solve the underlying reasons why women often abort in the first place.
