Chapter Four

Xander arrived at the hospital in record time. He ran to Cordelia's room and into her waiting arms. She only had her iv left, the tubes had been removed, but she still looked tired. "Xander, is it really you?" she asked when he finally let go of her.
"Yes, Cordy. Its me. I'm here>" he sighed happily.
"Where are my babies? And what exactly happened? The last thing I remember is being sick in the car." Cordelia was getting agitated.
"Calm down, we were in an accident. You delivered the babies, but went into a come after Chance was born. Oh yeah, we have babies, Chance Alexander and Summer Chase." he told her excitedly.
Xander took her hand "They are beautiful, Cordelia. I am so glad your back"
"I like those names, did you choose them by yourself?" she asked him.
"Well, we had discussed them a little bit. You liked Summer" he said smiling.
"When can I see them?" I don't want to wait any longer to see them" she asked anxiously.
"You don't have to wait. I can have the gang bring them now. They are all at our house babysitting!" explained Xander. "Ill call them and have them bring them now."
Xander called the apartment . "Harris residence" answered Willows perky voice.
"Will, when did you get there?" he asked then quickly explained the situation to her. "Sure, we'll bring the babies. Tell Cordelia hello and we are glad she is okay. We'll be there soon." said Willow as she humg up the phone.
"Guys, we have to take the babies to the hospital to see Cordelia" explained Willow.
"Okay, Oz grab the bottles, Willow diapers, Angel the diaper bags" Buffy started giving orders!
Willow and Oz went on ahead , Willows car was too small for both carseats. So they were going to meet Buffy and Angel there with the babies.
When they arrived at the hospital, Angel took one carseat and Buffy took the other. They met Oz and Willow and headed for Cordelias room. Buffy walked over to the bed and handed Summer to her Mommy. Angel did the same with Chance. "Here are your babies!" said Buffy sweetly. "Thanks for watching them and Xander for me" replied Cordelia.
Cordelia kissed the top of the babies heads. She looked so sweet a baby in each arm. She started to count every finger and toe. Xander stopped her, "They're perfect, Cordy"
"I know, but I am still in awe that I am a Mom, and I have two perfect babies." she smiled at the babies in her arms. "I love you" she whispered to them and then added to Xander "I love you too"
"They are wonderful babies Cordelia! I wish Angel and me could have one." Buffy said quietly. Everyone looked at her.
"Angel and I" Willow corrected her her friend, suprised that Buffy had admitted she wanted a baby.
"Whatever, I'm not in English class now Will. That ended when Summer began." explained Buffy.
"I agree, schools out, why use our education?" laughed Cordelia.
Buffy and Angel and Oz and Willow left the little family alone. They decided to go to their homes for the evening. Angel noticed Buffy was quiet on the way home. He thought he knew why and he wished it could be different. Maybe it could.
Cordelia decided that the babies needed to go home and get to bed. Xander loaded them up in their seats. After he said goodbye he carried them out to the car and headed home.
He walked into the house, managing to carry both seats without waking the babies. He sat them on the couch. He locked the door and locked the door and the phone rang. "Hello" he said quietly. It was Cordelia "Hey, its just me. I wanted to check on the babies. They didn't wake up did they?" she was a worried Mother.
"Cordy, they're fine. Get some rest, we'll be back in the morning." Xander told his wife lovingly.
"Goodnight Xander" Cordelia said and hung up the phone. Xander put both bassinets in his and Cordys room. He took Summer first and put her in her bassinet. She stirred a little bit, but he gave her a pacifier and she went back to dreamland. He turned on the monitor and went to get Chance. When he reached the bottom step Chance was crying. he rushed to him and put the baby on his shoulder. He went to the kitchen and warmed up a bottle. He stuck the bottle in the babys mouth. Soon Chance was asleep in his fathers arms. Xander replaced the bottle with a pacifier and took the baby to his bed.
Xander checked on Summer who was still sleeping, but had wiggled out of her covers. He put her covers back on and went downstairs. He checked to make sure there were enough bottles made. He washed bottles and dishes. He mixed up formula and made more bottles. Then he went to bed, the minute his head hit the pillow he was out like a light.
At 3am, Summer woke him up crying. "Shh, shh, please don't wake your brother up" he pleaded with his little girl. He took her downstairs to feed her and change her. They fell asleep on the couch and didn't get up until they heard Chances cry at 6:30 am.
