Hello!!!

My name is Carolene and I'm glad you're here!

I'd like to invite you to stay and visit for awhile.

Just sit back, make yourself at home and take a look around. All of these poems are
special to me, by a very special poet....
James J. Metcalfe.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
This will be Page 2 and if you have a request
for a certain poem by this poet, let me know and I will try
to locate it for you.
I hope these pages will contain some things to bring you some happy thoughts, a few smiles, and hopefully just a little bit of laughter.

Have a pleasant stay and please don't forget to sign my Guestbook on your way out! I hope you'll come back once in awhile to see what changes I've made and new things that will be added.

Why I Write

If there is one who reads my lines... And one whose heart will
say... That my mundane philosophy... Has helped him on
his way... If there is anyone whose sky... Is brighter than be-
fore... And who by virtue of my words... May make a higher
score... Then I shall know my life is not... Entirely in
vain... Because I have contributed... Some comfort in the
rain... And that is all I ever ask... That I may do my bit...
To help the world consider life... And make the best of it...
I only want to share my thoughts... With everyone on earth
... In soft and simple phrases for... Whatever they are worth.

James J. Metcalfe

Mr. Metcalfe would be so pleased that his poems are still being read and
appreciated by so many and they still have an impact on the lives of those reading
his poems. They touch the heart and make one stop and think
about life. As a young girl of 17, I clipped one out of the newpapers that had
special meaning for me. I am 70 yrs old now and this website is
my humble tribute to this great poet.

This poem Why I Write is on page 45 on his book, More Poem Portraits
