Article I


Name Logo Slogan

This student organization is to be known as A.L.E., Asociación Latina Estudiantil. This organization will have as slogan: “Compartiendo Nuestras Raices.” The official club logo is the North and South American continents displayed within a drawing of the world.

Article II

Objective Purpose

To unite different cultural Latino groups, in order to enhance and understand the uniqueness of each individual culture. A.L.E. will be open to all students at Phoenix College who are interested in learning about different Latino cultures and in participating in community oriented activities. The organization will be active in both school and community activities, and events.

A.L.E.’s semester long term and short term objectives are as follows, but not limited too;


  • To take part in Latino-oriented events
  • To attend seminars, conferences, workshops and other events regarding Latino issues
  • Food and clothing drives
  • Neighborhood clean up projects
  • Visiting the elderly, orphanages and children’s hospitals
  • Help in the restoration of homes and maintaining housing
  • Offer counseling and study skills for at-risk students



  • Article III

    Membership

    Section A.

    Phoenix College and the Maricopa County Community College District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, handicap or age in application, admission, participation, access and treatment of persons in instructional or employment programs and activities.

    Section B.

    All members are required to be a student currently attending Phoenix College carrying a minimum of three (3) credit hours. Along with a Grade point average of 2.0, “C” average, or better. (members G.P.A. will determine the eligibility to tutor children as part of the Tutoring Committee).

    Section C.

    There will be a one-time club membership fee of one dollar ($1.00). Which every member is encouraged to pay at the beginning of the school semester.

    Section D.

    No one may be denied club membership based on the inability to pay dues. Club officers will be who determine prospective members’ inability to pay dues.

    Section E.

    All prospective A.L.E. members are required to fill out an application that the club officers will review. This application will determine the students’ interest and it will help in placing them into the committees available.

    Section F.

    Termination of the membership shall be as follows:


  • Voluntary. – Any member who no longer can or whishes to take part in the organization should notify the officers verbally one week in advance so that they can fill the vacancies left by the former member.


  • Involuntary. – Any officer or active member who is not meeting the club requirements, denigrates the clubs’ image or reputation, violates any security policy, or is a threat to members of the club body, can be formally impeached by his or her club peers. This can be done by a democratic vote during a general club meeting. A majority of 75% is necessary to remove the said undesired club member.



  • Section G.

    Any past or current A.L.E. club member may remain an A.L.E. club member for as long as he or she desires as long as he or she meets the previously stated requirements.

    Section H.

    All A.L.E. club members are encouraged to run for office.


    Article IV
