JOE LAUFER'S PAGE

In December, 1997, Penny and I took a weekend trip to New Orleans. Here we are in the lobby of our hotel, the Cheateau LeMoyne. We were married in Arlington, Virginia on December 31, 1969 -- the year of Woodstock, the First Man on the Moon, and the year the Met's won the World's Series!

Joe Laufer's Story

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1935, I spent most of my adult life as an educator. At the end of 1997, after 26 years on the staff of Burlington County College, I retired. However, in September, 1999, I accepted a part-time position as Coordintor of the School to Careers Program for Burlington County, operating out of the Lenape Regional School District. In January, 2001 I assumed responsibility as the Director of Alumni Affairs for the Lenape Regional High School District (Lenape, Cherokee, Shawnee and Seneca High Schools). In May, 2003, I was appointed "Burlington County Historian by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Burlington County. I also serve as the President of the H.B. Smith Industrial Village Conservancy and Vice President of the Historic Rancocas Valley Tourism Association, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jack Allen Memorial Country Living Museum in Southampton. I am Chairman of the Advisory Committe of the Burlington County Cultural and Heritage Department and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Burlington County Historical Society.

I am in my third three-year term as an elected member of the Southampton Township Committee. If you click below, you'll find out all "about me" from a chronology which appeared in the program for my retirement dinner.
