The other reason I free-hand everything is because of lack of money for software....But even if I had the money for it...I wouldn't go to a tablet if it killed me. A tablet is too easy. I like making things difficult (which could be either very bad or very good on my part.)
You don't see too much free-hand computer generated art these days, and when you do, it could be for a number of reasons, such as lack of software, lack of money, lack of knowledge of software, or just because they want to. I'm one of those people who do it because of the latter.
About My Style...
about my style...
In all actuality, the process isn't that hard. I usually start with a rough draft on Microsoft Paint,
doing only lines and colour fills.
I then copy that draft over to Paint Shop Pro 7,
where I shade and do whatever it takes to make things look as decent as possible.
The most difficult things to make on the computer are portraits. No matter how hard you try you can't ever get them to look exactly like the photo. I've had mine criticized out the wazoo...

"That's not Elijah Wood, that's Michael Jackson, you loser!" "Your art bites!" "That's an insult to so and so's name!" are all things that have been said to me. It's been tough, but that's what it's like being a beginning artist of sorts. No wonder Hitler decided against being one...^_~

When I tell people how I draw, their first response is,
"Are you nuts? That's impossible!" Well, if it was impossible,
I guarantee you I wouldn't be doing it.

Well, that's all I want to say for the time being.
If you have any further questions, feel free to
write me. If you're a college, feel free to give me a free ride scholarship ^_^ Just joshin'! Either way, write me and I'll write something back (being relevant to whatever it is you wrote is not in my job description.)

Swingin' like yo' Daddy at a disco,
