Annie
This outstanding musical is based on the "Little Orphan Annie" comic strips about a young girl trying to find her parents. The idea for the show was born around Christmas in 1971, when director Martin Charnin was reading one of the comic books. People hated the idea of Little Orphan Annie being made into a Broadway show but the play quickly sped to success, nabbing 7 Tony awards, including Best Musical.
