Annie
Annie is an eleven year old orphan who has been living in the Girls' Annex of the Municipal Orphanage on the Lower Side of New York all her life. Her parents left here there with half a locket and a note, stating that they'll come back for her someday. Annie has high hopes of finding her parents. She is also very kind to all the other girls in the orphanage and a good protector of the youngest one, Molly.
Annie's story begins in the orphanage, where she believes that maybe her parents will come back for her soon. Miss Hannigan, the woman who runs the orphanage, is very cruel and makes her girls do work all the time. Annie tries to run away several times but Miss Hannigan always catches her and beats her.
Meanwhile, a billionaire named Oliver Warbucks decides he wants an orphan to spend Christmas with him, so his secretary Grace goes out to choose one. She chooses Annie and Annie and Mr. Warbucks become very close. Annie still wants to find her parents though, so Mr. Warbucks conducts a nationwide search to find Annie's mother and father.
Meanwhile Miss Hannigan and her brother Rooster want the reward that is to be given to Annie's parents but they don't want Annie. Finally they decide to dress up as Annie's mother and father (since Miss Hannigan knows everything about Annie), to get the reward money, and to kill Annie as soon as they leave New York.
Their scheme looks like it might work until Mr. Warbucks receives some news from the FBI - Annie's real parents were dead. Miss Hannigan and Rooster were jailed and Annie was adopted by "Daddy" Warbucks and lived happily ever after.
