Phantom of the Opera
"Le Fantôme de l'Opéra" was probably the most famous work of French author Gaston Leroux. Today, "The Phantom of the Opera," the Broadway show based on the novel, is one of the most famous musicals ever written. This haunting story of a masked ghost named Erik living in the cellars of an old opera house, a young beautiful soprano named Christine with an angelic voice, and the handsome hero Raoul Viscount de Chagny, has enchanted audiences worldwide. In 1988, Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit show won 7 Tonys, including Best Musical.
