Page 2 HARP NEWS BOOK DEMO--MAY 3 Carolyn Bame will play selections from her beautiful books of original compositions on Saturday, May 3, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. $10. JEFF VOLK--MAY 29 On May 29, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Jeff Volk, the producer of the award-winning video "Of Sound Mind and Body: Music and Vibrational Healing," and the International Sound Colloquium, will present Dancing with Disorder: Finding Harmony in a Chaotic World-- a multimedia event exploring the subtle (or esoteric) nature of music and sound. See fascinating footage of how sound structures water, and how it moves through very specific phases of chaos and reintegration, dramatically portraying universal principles which are extremely relevant in our personal lives, and are especially pertinent to the healing process. This will be further articulated through related material on natural geometry and sound therapies. Jeff will have an eclectic assortment of "sound health" resources for sale. Laurie Riley will provide music for the event. Location: Sedona Creative Life Center, Schnebly Hill Road, in Sedona. $20. Laurie Riley CELTFEST 2003 The Pacific Institute of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts Summer School and Concert (Celtfest 2003) will take place July 20-25, at Shawnigan Lake School in California, with classes in Irish dance, Piping, Drumming, Highland Dance, Harp, Fiddle, and Piano and Guitar accompaniment. The complete teaching staff numbers 30. Celtfest 2003 will include a Sunset and Stars Gala Concert on July 24, Student Recitals July 21 and 23, and a Jig and Hornpipe Contest on July 22. BEER DRINKERS? Four beer salesman happened to run in to each other and decided to have a drink together. They went to a nearby pub and the Miller salesman ordered a Miller Lite. The Coors salesman ordered a Coors Light and the Michelob salesman ordered a Michelob Light. The Guinness salesman ordered a Coke. The other three salesman looked at him and said "What's the matter with you? Why are you ordering a Coke?" The Guinness salesman said, "If you're not drinking beer, neither am I." Submitted by Nancy McPherson FAERIEWORLDS FESTIVAL SATURDAY, MAY 10 On Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Faerieworlds Festival will make its first magical appearance at Sedona Cultural Park. The Festival is a day-long celebration of music, art, and imagination featuring Celtic and Faerie-themed artists, musicians, performers and vendors. Musical highlights include Celtic musicians Johnny Cunningham and Susan McKeown and the driving guitars, bagpipes, and didgeridoos of Australian rock band, Brother, as well as the Arizona based, Celtic inspired band, Woodland, who will perform accompanied by the "World of Froud Lightshow." Other performers include The New Potatoes Celtic fiddle band; D-Squared (Harp and Banjo duo); Ani Williams (Mystic harp and chanting); Wild Thyme (Renaissance and Irish traditional); Lily Swan (Traditional ambient harp); Gaelic Thunder (live Celtic music and dance); Domba (Faery dance performance); The Mudfaeries (Whimsical interactive sculpture/performance); Living Folklore Clowns (parades and modern folk theatre); Toby Froud (puppets and theatre).A portion of the proceeds from the Festival will benefit the Northern Arizona Waldorf Education.
