THE LEGEND OF ZELDA | ||||||||||||||||||||
TIMELINE 1 (according to me)
![]() |
||||||||||||||||||||
Creation of Hyrule | ||||||||||||||||||||
A long time ago... Before life began, before the world had form, three golden goddesses descended upon the chaotic land of Hyrule. They were Din, the Goddess of Power, Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, and Farore, the Goddess of Courage. Din, with her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land to create the earth. Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth to give the spirit of law to the world. Farore's rich soul created all life forms who would uphold the law. These three great goddesses returned to the heavens, leaving behind the golden sacred Triforce. |
||||||||||||||||||||
The Triforce was sealed in the Sacred Realm connected to Hyrule. The legends also say that whoever holds the Triforce can make their wishes come true, but only if he has the perfect balance between the three forces: Power, Wisdom, and Courage. If someone without the right balance lays his or her hand on the Triforce, it will split into three pieces. The one touching the Triforce will hold the force that he or she most believes in, and the two other parts will be given to persons chosen by destiny to carry the Triforce-part that they represent. The persons who carry the Triforce or a part of it can be recognized by the Triforce symbol on their hands.

?A long, long time ago, when Hyrule was about to be consumed by darkness, the tiny Picori descended from the sky, and bestowed upon a young boy dressed in green a sword and a shining golden light. With wisdom and courage, the young hero drove out the darkness. Now, every 100 years the Picori return to Hyrule, to provide humans with magical gifts.?
The Picori's salvation of Hyrule is celebrated in Hyrule with the Picori Festival, a large fair and a sword fighting tournament. On one such festival, Princess Zelda and her childhood friend Link, grandson of the royal blacksmith Smith, decide to visit HyruleTown to join the festivities. However, these are short-lived, as the winner of the tournament, the unknown stranger Vaati, is in fact a powerful sorcerer who breaks the Picori Blade and turns Zelda to stone.
In Hyrule Castle the king of Hyrule and his counselor Potho are desperate to bring Zelda back home. They place all their hopes in the tiny Picori who have been invaluable allies, and because it is believed that only children can see Picori, they send Link to seek the legendary beings' help.
On his way through Minish Woods, home of the Minish, Link rescues Ezlo, a strange being resembling a green cap with an avian head, who joins him in his quest and can make Link shrink to the size of the Minish themselves through a ritual he can perform on Minish altars. Link then meets the Forest Minish elder Gentari, who tells him that to restore power in the magical picori blade broken by Vaati, he must find four elemental artifacts and imbue the blade with their essence. He directs Link and Ezlo to Melari on Mt.Crenel, as Melari is the only one who can fix the broken sword. When Link meets Melari he gives the sword to him and goes on to a human mine for the second element. When he comes back Melari tells him about the elemental sanctuary found in HyruleCastle. Only after he fuses the four elements can he face Vaati and defeat him.
It is later revealed that both Ezlo and Vaati were once Minish, Ezlo being a renowned sage and craftsman and Vaati his apprentice. Vaati eventually became corrupted by the madness and egotism of men and took a magic hat Ezlo had made for the humans in Hyrule. The hat grants any wish made by the bearer, and Vaati wished to become a powerful sorcerer. He then turned his old master, who had tried to stop him, into a hat. Devoured by his desire for power, Vaati took a twisted, vile appearance and set out to search for the mystic Light Force of Hyrule, which would make him even stronger.
When Link completes the Picori blade (also known as the Four Sword), Vaati turns Hyrule Castle into DarkHyruleCastle - the final dungeon in the game. Link gets to Vaati just before he drains Zelda of all the Light Force (this would kill her), but the Wind Sorcerer states that he already has enough power to defeat Link. Link then fights Vaati in two different forms, the first being a larger form of himself and the second being a large sphere with an eye, and prevails. He frees Zelda from her curse as the castle is collapsing, and then he and the Princess go to the elemental shrine to avoid being crushed. Vaati was waiting there for Link, and faces him one more time. His final form is like his previous form but with arms, and seeming to be indestructible at first. Link managed to defeat the evil Minish again. Vaati disappears, after saying that he is confused as to how Link beat him, claiming he has the power of a god. Ezlo floats off of Link's head and is returned to his original form. He finds the cap of wishes he created and gives it to Zelda, since she has a pure heart, saying ?Let your wishes come true!? The cursed people are cured and the castle is turned back to normal. The doorway to the Minish world is closing and Ezlo states he must go. He says he enjoyed his time with Link, and in return provides him with a cap, saying, ?I have never seen you with a cap until now, it fits you, little hero.? He shrinks down and goes through the doorway, just as it vanishes.

||||||||||||||||||||
The game opens as the fairy Navi awakens Link from a nightmare. Navi has been sent to bring Link to the guardian of his village, the Great Deku Tree, who is cursed and near death. Link breaks the curse, but cannot stop the tree from withering. The Deku Tree tells Link that the wizard that cursed him seeks to conquer the land of Hyrule, and that Link must stop him. He orders Link to HyruleCastle, and dies.[16]
At HyruleCastle, Link meets Princess Zelda, who explains that she has been having dreams about the future of Hyrule, and that she foresaw Link's arrival. She believes that Ganondorf, a king from the desert, is seeking the Triforce, a holy relic in the Sacred Realm that gives its holder god-like power. Zelda's description of Ganondorf matches that of the wizard that killed the Great Deku Tree. Zelda asks Link to obtain the three Sacred Stones so that he might enter the Sacred Realm and claim the Triforce before Ganondorf reaches it.[17]
Link retrieves the three stones and returns to the castle, where he sees Ganondorf pursuing Zelda on horseback. Spotting Link, Zelda throws the Ocarina of Time into the castle moat. After Link retrieves the Ocarina, Zelda telepathically teaches him the ?Song of Time?, which, combined with the Sacred Stones, allows Link to open the door that leads to the Sacred Realm. Just through the door, Link finds the Master Sword, a magical sword forged to fight evil. As he pulls the Master Sword from its pedestal, Ganondorf appears, having followed Link into the Sacred Realm, and claims the Triforce.[18]
Seven years later, an older Link awakens in an ethereal room and is met by the elderly sage Rauru. Rauru informs Link that his spirit was sealed for seven years until he was old enough to wield the Master Sword and defeat Ganondorf.[19]Rauru is the ancient Sage of Light, one of seven sages who protect the location of the Triforce. The seven sages can imprison Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm; however, the other six sages are unaware of their identities because Ganondorf has transformed Hyrule into a land of darkness. Link returns to Hyrule and is met by the mysterious Sheik, who guides Link to rid five temples of Ganon's monsters, so that the power of the temples can awaken the sages.[20]
After awakening five sages, Sheik is revealed as Princess Zelda, the seventh sage. She tells Link that when Ganondorf's heart is unbalanced, so the Triforce split into three pieces according to an ancient prophecy.[21]Ganondorf kept the Triforce of Power, Zelda gained the Triforce of Wisdom, and Link obtained the Triforce of Courage. Zelda bestows Link with the magical Light Arrows needed to defeat Ganondorf, when Ganondorf traps Zelda in a crystal and transports her to his tower. After the remaining six Sages help Link enter the tower, Link battles Ganondorf and the seven sages use their combined power to trap Ganon in the Sacred Realm, who takes the Triforce of Power with him.[22]

||||||||||||||||||||
Note: When Zelda sent Link back to his childhood, she created an alternate timeline, which can be found here.
At the beginning of the game, a young boy named Link is awakened by a telepathic message from Princess Zelda, who says that she is locked in the dungeon of HyruleCastle. As the message closes, Link finds his uncle ready for battle, telling Link to remain in bed. However, Link ignores his uncle's command, and after his uncle leaves, follows him to HyruleCastle. When he arrives, he finds his uncle seriously wounded. Link's uncle tells Link to rescue Princess Zelda from her prison, giving him a sword and shield. Link navigates the castle and rescues Zelda from her cell, and the two escape into a secret passage through the sewers that leads to a sanctuary.
Link is told by a man in the sanctuary that Agahnim, a wizard who has usurped the throne, is planning to break a seal made hundreds of years ago by seven wise men. The seal was placed to imprison a dark wizard named Ganon in the Dark World, which was once the Sacred Realm before Ganon invaded it, obtained the legendary Triforce and used its power to turn the realm into a land of darkness. Agahnim intends to break the seal by sending the descendants of the wise men who made the seal into the Dark World; the only thing that can defeat him is the Master Sword, a sword forged to combat evil. To prove that he is worthy to wield it, he needs three magic pendants. After retrieving the pendants, Link takes them to the resting place of the Master Sword. However, as Link draws the sword from its pedestal, Zelda telepathically calls him to the Sanctuary, informing him that soldiers of HyruleCastle have arrived. Link arrives at the Sanctuary moments after the soldiers have vacated it, where he learns from the dying man that Zelda has been moved to HyruleCastle. Link goes to rescue her, but arrives too late; Agahnim sends Zelda to the Dark World. Link then defeats Agahnim in battle, but is subsequently also sent to the Dark World.
To save Hyrule, Link rescues the seven descendants of the wise men from dungeons scattered across the Dark World. Once the seven maidens are freed, they use their power to break the barrier around Ganon's Tower, where Link faces Agahnim again. After Link battles Agahnim for a second time, Ganon rises up from Agahnim's body, turns into a bat, and flies away. Link chases him, finally confronting him inside the Pyramid of Power in the Dark World. After battling, resulting in Ganon's demise, Link touches the Triforce and restores Hyrule to how it was before Ganon intervened.

||||||||||||||||||||
Set over a century after the events of Ocarina of Time,[12] the game begins with Link living and working as a ranch hand in OrdonVillage. When monsters suddenly attack the village, and kidnap the village children and his close friend Ilia, Link pursues the attackers, and a monster pulls him through a strange black wall, which transforms him into a large wolf (?blue-eyed beast?), seemingly by the power of the Triforce of Courage. The monster drags him off and he wakes, imprisoned, in Hyrule Castle. An imp-like creature named Midna appears, and releases him. She guides him to another of the castle's prisoners: Princess Zelda.
Zelda explains that the Twilight King Zant is trying to merge the Twilight Realm and Hyrule into a land of darkness using an evil power. Zant is a member of the Twili, a race of beings descended from magicians banished to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses of Hyrule. Midna is a Twili who is searching for a weapon called the Fused Shadows to defeat Zant and save the Twilight Realm. Restoring the four Light Spirits of Hyrule, Link and Midna re-assemble the Fused Shadows that had been broken up and hidden in the ForestTemple, Goron Mines, and LakebedTemple. However, Zant appears, takes the Fused Shadows, embeds a black crystal in Link's forehead, trapping him in his wolf form, and exposes Midna to the light of the Light Spirit Lanayru, critically injuring her. Link rushes Midna to Princess Zelda, who reveals that the only way Link can return to his normal form is to find the Master Sword. Zelda combines her heart with Midna's to heal her, allowing her to exist outside of the Twilight. After Link reaches the Master Sword, Zant's black crystal is forced out of him. Midna keeps the crystal, allowing Link to assume his wolf form at will.
Link and Midna travel through GerudoDesert and conquer the Arbiter's Grounds dungeon to reach the Mirror of Twilight ? the only way to enter the Twilight Realm and stop Zant ? only to discover that Zant has broken it. The ancient sages who guard the mirror reveal that they banished Ganondorf to the Twilight Realm using the Mirror, and that he may be the source of Zant's frightening, newfound powers. They also state that Zant attempted to destroy the Mirror completely, but could not do so, because only the true ruler of the Twili has the power to do so, and Zant's powers are false. He could only break it into four fragments, and three are missing. After journeying through the Snowpeak Ruins, the Temple of Time, and the City in the Sky, they obtain the missing Mirror shards. After Link and Midna restore the Mirror, the sages reveal that Midna is the true ruler of the Twili, the Twilight Princess, and that Zant's curse turned her into an imp. When Link and Midna confront Zant in the Twilight Realm, he explains that he encountered Ganondorf while in a rage about being passed over as the king of the Twili. Ganondorf offered to make Zant's wishes come true, and made Zant a vessel for his power. Midna regains the Fused Shadows, and uses it to kill Zant.
Link and Midna return to HyruleCastle, which is surrounded by a seemingly-impenetrable magical barrier, but Midna breaks through it with the Fused Shadows. They then encounter Ganondorf, who possesses Zelda. Link is then forced to fight Zelda. After Link defeats her, Midna purges Zelda of Ganondorf's spirit. He then transforms into the form of a giant boar (his ?Ganon? form). After Link defeats Ganon, Zelda's spirit is released from Midna's body, bringing Zelda back to life. Suddenly, Ganondorf reappears in the form of what appears to be a floating, flaming apparition in the form of his head. Midna teleports Link and Zelda to safety, and tries to destroy him with the Fused Shadows. However, after Link and Zelda are safely transported to Hyrule Field, HyruleCastle is decimated, and Ganondorf, having apparently defeated Midna, appears on horseback holding the Fused Shadow Midna wore on her head, before crushing it in his hand. Zelda prays to the Light Spirits, who grant her the Light Arrows, and she and Link battle Ganondorf on horseback. Ganondorf falls from his horse in battle, but challenges Link to a sword-fight. After battling, Link drives the Master Sword into Ganondorf's glowing wound. Ganondorf stands, impaled, believing the Triforce of Power will save him. Instead, the image of the Triforce fades from his hand, and he seemingly dies, standing upright.
With Ganondorf dead, the curse that Zant put on Midna, who survived her defeat at his hands, is broken, and she regains her true form. Link, Zelda, and Midna travel to the Mirror of Twilight, where Midna returns home. Before she leaves, Midna sends a tear into the Mirror, cracking it. After Midna enters the portal, the Mirror shatters, severing the link between Hyrule and the Twilight Realm forever.
During the ending credits, the image of the Master Sword returned to the Pedestal of Time in the Sacred Grove is shown. Afterwards, Ilia is shown looking down the path leading out of Ordon in consternation, and then the screen flashes to Link riding Epona through Faron Woods away from home. Despite the general misconception that Link is riding towards Ordon, close inspection of the ending scene and the landmarks of Faron Woods show Link is in fact riding away. The final image is of the statue of the Triforce and the Goddesses above the throne room in HyruleCastle, light shining on one half, the other half in shadow.

||||||||||||||||||||
Oracle of Seasons | ||||||||||||||||||||
One day in Hyrule, a strange force drew Link deep within Hyrule castle, where he found the Triforce resting, glittering brilliantly as it awaited him.
?Link... Link... Accept the quest of the Triforce!?
Suddenly, Link was enveloped in a shaft of light, and the next moment, he vanishes. When Link awoke, he found himself in a forest he had never seen. Confused, he looked around blankly at the unfamiliar surroundings. He heard pleasant music and laughing voices echoing from deep within the woods. Link followed the inviting voices until he came upon a traveling troupe of actors. He was immediately struck by the beauty of a young woman who was dancing about in circles. When the girl noticed Link, she smiled brightly and called to him.
?Welcome to Holodrum. I am Din, the dancer,? she said with glee. ?Would you like to dance with me? Don't be shy. It will be more fun if we dance together.? She took him by the hand, and he reluctantly began to dance.
Unfortunately, this blissful moment did not last long. The sky suddenly went dark and there was a loud crash of thunder, followed by a resounding, thunderous voice.
?I've found you, Din! You can't deceive me by disguising yourself as a dancer. I am Onox, General of Darkness! Now reveal yourself, Oracle of Seasons!?
Then a great tornado dropped from the sky and drew near Din, as if to engulf her.
?Help me, Link!? she cried.
Link was blown back by the tornado as he struggled against its awesome force, and Din was swept away in the wind...
When Onox carried off the Oralce of Seasons from the land of Holodrum, the seasons fell into chaos and the land was deprived the bountiful gifts of nature. Life was slowly being drained from the land, and all living things began to wither.
And so Onox set in motion his plan to gather the power from the withering land and create a world of total darkness.
Din's attendant, Impa, tells Link that they were headed for Hyrule; she instructs him to see the Maku Tree in HoronVillage, the capital of Holodrum.[5] Link finds a sword in a cave and makes his way to the tree. The Maku Tree tells Link he will need the eight Essences of Nature and gives him the Gnarled Key, which unlocks the dungeon holding the first Essence. Link retrieves the eight Essences, hidden in eight dungeons throughout Holodrum, and brings them to the Maku Tree. The Maku Tree uses them to create a Huge Maku Seed, a sacred seed that cleanses evil, which allows Link to enter Onox's castle.[6] Link enters the castle and defeats Onox. He rescues Din, who tells him that he is now a true hero and must face a new trial soon.[7]Twinrova, watching the scene remotely, states that the Flame of Destruction has been powered by the havoc Onox has wrought.[8]
