THE LEGEND OF ZELDA
TIMELINE 2 (according to me)
Creation of Hyrule
A long time ago...

Before life began, before the world had form, three golden goddesses   descended upon the chaotic land    of Hyrule.   They were Din, the Goddess of Power, Nayru, the   Goddess of Wisdom, and Farore, the Goddess of   Courage.

Din, with her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land to create the earth. Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth to give the spirit   of law to the world. Farore's rich soul created all   life forms who would uphold the law.

These three great goddesses returned to the heavens, leaving behind the   golden sacred Triforce.
The Triforce was sealed in the Sacred Realm connected to Hyrule. The legends also say that whoever holds the Triforce can make their wishes come true, but only if he   has the perfect balance between the three forces: Power, Wisdom, and Courage.   If someone without the right balance lays his or her hand on the Triforce, it will split into three pieces. The one   touching the Triforce will hold the force that he   or she most believes in, and the two other parts will be given to persons   chosen by destiny to carry the Triforce-part that   they represent. The persons who carry the Triforce   or a part of it can be recognized by the Triforce   symbol on their hands.
?A long, long time ago, when Hyrule was about to be consumed by darkness, the tiny Picori descended from the sky, and bestowed upon a young boy dressed in green a sword and a shining golden light. With wisdom and courage, the young hero drove out the darkness. Now, every 100 years the Picori return to Hyrule, to provide humans with magical gifts.?
The Picori's salvation of Hyrule is celebrated in Hyrule with the Picori Festival, a large fair and a sword fighting tournament. On one such festival, Princess Zelda and her childhood friend Link, grandson of the royal blacksmith Smith, decide to visit HyruleTown to join the festivities. However, these are short-lived, as the winner of the tournament, the unknown stranger Vaati, is in fact a powerful sorcerer who breaks the Picori Blade and turns Zelda to stone.
In Hyrule Castle the king of Hyrule and his counselor Potho are desperate to bring Zelda back home. They place all their hopes in the tiny Picori who have been invaluable allies, and because it is believed that only children can see Picori, they send Link to seek the legendary beings' help.
On his way through Minish Woods, home of the Minish, Link rescues Ezlo, a strange being resembling a green cap with an avian head, who joins him in his quest and can make Link shrink to the size of the Minish themselves through a ritual he can perform on Minish altars. Link then meets the Forest Minish elder Gentari, who tells him that to restore power in the magical picori blade broken by Vaati, he must find four elemental artifacts and imbue the blade with their essence. He directs Link and Ezlo to Melari on Mt.Crenel, as Melari is the only one who can fix the broken sword. When Link meets Melari he gives the sword to him and goes on to a human mine for the second element. When he comes back Melari tells him about the elemental sanctuary found in HyruleCastle. Only after he fuses the four elements can he face Vaati and defeat him.
It is later revealed that both Ezlo and Vaati were once Minish, Ezlo being a renowned sage and craftsman and Vaati his apprentice. Vaati eventually became corrupted by the madness and egotism of men and took a magic hat Ezlo had made for the humans in Hyrule. The hat grants any wish made by the bearer, and Vaati wished to become a powerful sorcerer. He then turned his old master, who had tried to stop him, into a hat. Devoured by his desire for power, Vaati took a twisted, vile appearance and set out to search for the mystic Light Force of Hyrule, which would make him even stronger.
When Link completes the Picori blade (also known as the Four Sword), Vaati turns Hyrule Castle into DarkHyruleCastle - the final dungeon in the game. Link gets to Vaati just before he drains Zelda of all the Light Force (this would kill her), but the Wind Sorcerer states that he already has enough power to defeat Link. Link then fights Vaati in two different forms, the first being a larger form of himself and the second being a large sphere with an eye, and prevails. He frees Zelda from her curse as the castle is collapsing, and then he and the Princess go to the elemental shrine to avoid being crushed. Vaati was waiting there for Link, and faces him one more time. His final form is like his previous form but with arms, and seeming to be indestructible at first. Link managed to defeat the evil Minish again. Vaati disappears, after saying that he is confused as to how Link beat him, claiming he has the power of a god. Ezlo floats off of Link's head and is returned to his original form. He finds the cap of wishes he created and gives it to Zelda, since she has a pure heart, saying ?Let your wishes come true!? The cursed people are cured and the castle is turned back to normal. The doorway to the Minish world is closing and Ezlo states he must go. He says he enjoyed his time with Link, and in return provides him with a cap, saying, ?I have never seen you with a cap until now, it fits you, little hero.? He shrinks down and goes through the doorway, just as it vanishes.
Although Ocarina of Time is actually the second story in this timeline, it has been left out because when Zelda sent Link back to his childhood, that would mean that what he had done/experienced in Ocarina of Time would not have actually taken place in this timeline (right?). To find out what happened in the timeline that Link left behind, click here. There the story continues another Link who has been called to protect the seal that locked up Ganon.
Majora's Mask begins with Link riding his horse Epona through the Lost Woods after the events of Ocarina of Time. While searching for his fairy friend, Navi, he is ambushed by a Skull Kid wearing a strange mask and his two fairy friends, Tatl and Tael. They steal Epona and the Ocarina of Time from Link and run off into a mysterious cave. After a transition sequence analogous to Alice in Wonderland, Link catches up with them, only to be changed into a Deku Scrub through the Skull Kid's mysterious power. The Skull Kid and Tael race off, but Tatl is left behind after a door closes in front of her. Because she is a fairy, she cannot open it and appeals to Link for help. Tatl apologizes and offers to aid him in restoring his natural form. Link proceeds past the cave's obstacles with Tatl as he comes to terms with his new body.
Link chases the Skull Kid through the cave and somehow ends up in an alternate dimension called Termina. Inside some sort of clock tower, Link meets the Happy Mask Salesman, who says that he can help Link if he retrieves the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask from the Skull Kid. As they leave the clock tower, Link and Tatl find themselves in the middle of a city named ClockTown, which is preparing for its annual festival, the Carnival of Time. Link learns that a looming catastrophe is threatening Termina: the moon in the sky has abandoned its orbit and is travelling towards the land. In just three short days, it will crash into ClockTown and destroy Termina. Link eventually locates the Skull Kid and Tael at midnight on the third day at the top of the clock tower. He manages to retrieve his Ocarina of Time from the Skull Kid but is unable to get the mask. Instead, he plays the Song of Time and its power sends him back in time to the beginning of the first day he arrived in Termina.
Link goes to see the Happy Mask Salesman, who teaches him the Song of Healing, a melody that is capable of curing anyone who has been cursed. With the Song of Healing, Link returns to his human form, transforming the curse into the Deku Mask. However, Link was unable to recover Majora's Mask. The Happy Mask Salesman tells Link about the story of Majora's Mask: Majora's Mask is an accursed item from legend, said to have been used by an ancient tribe in its hexing rituals. The Mask grants its wielder's wishes, but possesses them with an evil, apocalyptic power. According to this legend, the troubles caused by Majora's Mask were so great that the ancient ones, fearing catastrophe, ?sealed the Mask in shadow forever?, preventing its misuse. However, the legendary tribe vanished and the origin and the true nature of the Mask were lost forever. The Skull Kid, possessed by Majora's Mask, was the one who drew the moon out of its orbit, threatening to destroy Termina. Tatl realizes that the only ones who can stop the moon are the Four Giants, the ancient protectors of Termina.
Once Link discovers how to travel back to the beginning of the three days, the real adventure begins. The basic scenario is that Link goes to one of the four areas (Swamp, Mountain, Bay, Canyon) and meets with the predominant species of that area (Deku, Goron, Zora, Undead respectively) and learns a plethora of information about them. In addition to learning about the species, Link learns of the problem that the area is facing, and why it is causing the creatures of the area to suffer. Link then receives a mask with which he uses to transform into one of the predominant creatures of that area (except for the Deku Mask which was obtained at the beginning of the game, and the Gibdo Mask which?though the scenario is strikingly similar to Darmani's and Mikau's?is not a transformation mask). After obtaining this mask and changing forms, Link usually learns a new song which is used to open up?or get to?the entrance of a temple. Once inside, Link defeats the boss, and then whatever problem was causing the people to suffer is rectified. Link finally meets one of the four guardians, and the entire process is repeated?with a plethora of side quests and mini games to do in between. Link has to fight, solve puzzles, and think his way through the four major lands of Termina: a poisonous swamp, an icy mountain, a murky bay, and a haunted canyon. Each region contains its own dungeon that Link must go through. Once he successfully defeats the masked boss at the end of a dungeon, Link obtains the friendship of one of the four giants.
When the dungeons are completed and a sequence of events are triggered, Link is able to call the giants, who halt the moon's passage towards Termina. The Skull Kid, in an attempt to free himself from Majora's Mask, collapses and is left unconscious. Tatl and Tael are reunited, thinking that the danger is over. However, Majora's Mask rises from the Skull Kid, taking life in its own. Majora's Mask says that the Skull Kid's role as a puppet is over and enters into the moon. The moon then becomes too heavy for the Four Giants to hold. With the help of Tatl, Link must also enter the moon and face Majora's Mask itself to determine the fate of Termina.[5] In a long and fierce battle, Link defeats Majora and the moon is disintegrated into a large and glowing rainbow that flies across the skies of Termina. Link finds the now-freed Skull Kid, who asks the Four Giants, his old friends, if they have forgotten him. The Four Giants say that they haven't forgotten him and that they are still his friends, and return to their sleep.Tatl and Tael reunite with the Skull Kid, who tells Link that having friends is a good thing. The Happy Mask Salesman regains Majora's Mask, revealing that the mask has been purified and its evil power has been destroyed. Also, he tells Link that the masks he collected are filled with happiness, a happiness that is stronger than any power. The Happy Mask Salesman walks away and vanishes, but not before telling Link that he should return to his world now. Link gets on Epona, waves goodbye to Tatl, Tael and the Skull Kid, and rides away. The Carnival of Time finally begins, and a great celebration ensues across Termina. Link rides through the Lost Woods, and returns to Hyrule. The game ends with a post-credits scene depicting a drawing of Link, Tatl, Tael, the Skull Kid and the Four Giants.
The Legend of Zelda's plot relies heavily on back story given in the short (in-game) prologue and the instruction booklet. Hyrule was engulfed in chaos after an army led by Ganon, the Prince of Darkness, invaded the kingdom and secured the Triforce of Power, a magical artifact bestowing great strength.[3]Hyrule'sPrincess Zelda split the artifact's counterpart, the Triforce of Wisdom, into eight fragments, hiding them in secret dungeons throughout the land to prevent them from falling into Ganon's hands. She commanded her most trustworthy nursemaid, Impa, to escape and find a man courageous enough to destroy Ganon. Upon hearing this, Ganon grew angry, imprisoned the princess, and sent a party in search of Impa.[3]
According to the manual, Impa fled for her life, but was overtaken by her pursuers. As Ganon's henchmen surrounded her, a youth drove the monsters off. The boy's name was Link, and Impa told him of Hyrule's plight.[4] Link resolved to save Zelda, but to fight Ganon he had to find and reassemble the scattered fragments of the Triforce. Undeterred, Link set off for Hyrule in an epic adventure.[4]
During the course of the game, Link locates the eight underground labyrinths (or dungeons) and retrieves the Triforce fragments from the clutches of powerful guardian monsters. Along the way, he picks up a variety of useful items and upgrades to aid him in his quest. With the Triforce of Wisdom, Link is able to infiltrate Ganon'sfortress high upon Death Mountain. He confronts the Prince of Darkness, destroying him with a Silver Arrow discovered deep within Ganon's dungeons. Link picks up the Triforce of Power from Ganon's ashes and returns both Triforces to Princess Zelda, whom he releases from her nearby cell. According to Zelda's words, peace would then return to Hyrule.
Hyrule was on the road to ruin. The power that the vile heart of Ganon had left behind was causing chaos and disorder in Hyrule. What's more, even after the fall of Ganon, some of his underlings remained, waiting for Ganon's return. The key to Ganon's return was the blood of Link - the valiant lad who overthrew the King of Evil. Ganon would be revived by sacrificing Link and sprinkling his blood on the ashes of Ganon.
Meanwhile, Link remained in the little kingdom  of Hyrule and lent his hand to its restoration. But circumstances did not look very good. One day, a strange mark, exactly like the crest of the kingdom, appeared on the back of Link's hand as he approached his 16th birthday. The worried Link went to Impa, Princess Zelda's nursemaid who was shocked and frightened when she saw the birthmark. When she regained her composure, she took Link to the NorthCastle.
There was a door in the NorthCastle called ?the door that does not open.? Only the descendants of the Impa family who served the king knew how to open the door. Impa took Link's left hand and pressed the back of it against the door. There was a sound of a lock falling open, the door slowly creaked open and there on an altar in the middle of the room lay a beautiful woman. ?Here lies Princess Zelda.? Impa began to speak calmly.
?Link, the time has come when I must tell you the legend of Zelda handed down in Hyrule. It is said that a long ago, when Hyrule was one country, a great ruler maintained the peace in Hyrule using the Triforce. However, the king too was a child of man and he died. Then, the prince of the kingdom should have become king and inherited everything, but he could inherit the Triforce only in part. The Prince searched everywhere for the missing parts, but could not find them. Then, a magician close to the king brought him some unexpected news. Before he died, the king had said something about the Triforce to only the younger sister of the prince, Princess Zelda. The prince immediately questioned the princess, but she wouldn't tell him anything. After the prince, the magician threatened to put the princess into an eternal sleep if she did not talk, but even still, she said nothing.?
?In his anger, the magician tried to cast a magic spell on the princess. The surprised prince tried to stop him, but the magician fought off the prince and went on chanting the spell. Then, when the spell was finally cast, Princess Zelda fell on that spot and entered asleep from which she might never awake. At the same time, the magician also fell down and breathed his last.? ?In his grief, the prince placed the princess in this room. He hoped that someday she would come back to life. So that this tragedy would never be forgotten, he ordered that every female child born into the royal household be given the name Zelda.? From the stand next to the altar where Princess Zelda lay in a deep sleep, Impa took six crystals and a scroll with the same crest and handed them to Link.
?For generations, my family has been handed down these things which have been set aside for a time when a great king will come. They are written in an ancient script that no one can read now. But you who have the crest may be able to read it. It is said that the key to uniting the Triforce is hidden there. Now it is time for you to read it.? Link glanced at the scroll half in doubt, but what do you know? Although he had never seen the letters before, he found that he could read them as if they were talking to him.
This was written on the scroll. ?You who'll control the Triforce of the future. I shall hand down to you the secrets of the Triforce. There are three kinds of Triforce -- Power, Wisdom, and Courage. When these three are brought together, the Triforce will show its maximum power. Of the three, I have left Power and Wisdom in the kingdom. But the Triforce Courage I have hidden for a reason.?
?Not everybody can use the Triforce. It requires strong character with no evil thoughts. But an inborn special quality is also necessary. Unfortunately, I have not found such a person during my lifetime.? ?Therefore, I have decided to cast a spell on all of Hyrule. A crest will appear on a young man with that character that has been brought up correctly, has gained many kinds of experiences and reached a certain age. But, what will happen if someone else uses the Triforce before then? If it misused, it will produce many evils.? ?The Triforce of Courage is hidden in the GreatPalace in the Valley of Death on the largest island in Hyrule. However, to enter there you must first fight the guardians and undo the ?binding force.? When you have defeated the guardians, which I made to prevent enemies from invading the six palaces in Hyrule, set a crystal in the forehead of the statue you find. When you have set crystals in all of the statues in the six palaces, the ?binding force? placed on the Valley of Death will be removed and you will be able to enter the great palace. There, you must fight the last guardian. And you can obtain the Triforce only by defeating that guardian.? ?There's nothing to fear. You are the one to get the Triforce. You are the beacon of hope for Hyrule.?
Impa implored Link, who raised his head slowly after reading the scroll. ?The magic spell cast upon Princess Zelda will sure to be broken if the Triforce is used.? ?Please, Link. Unite the Triforce and save the princess. And bring back peace to Hyrule.
Link nodded silently in approval, and left the room after taking a long glance at the altar. Then, with a magical sword in his left hand and a magical shield in his right, he set off alone on his long travels. At that time, Ganon's underlings were calling up new allies from the Underworld, and were beginning to work devilishly towards the revival of Ganon.
Ultimately, Link restores the crystals to the six palaces, and with the crystals in place, the entrance to the GreatPalace is opened. After venturing deep inside, Link is made to battle a shadowy doppelgänger of himself known as Dark Link. Link then claims the Triforce and returns to Zelda, who awakens and embraces Link.
Though Link fulfilled the Hyrulian prophecy of the Legendary Hero and destroyed the evil tyrant Ganon, the land of Hyrule enjoyed only a precarious peace. ?Who knows what threats may arise from Ganon's ashes?? the restless people murmured as they knitted their brows and shook their heads. Ever vigilant, Link decided to journey away from Hyrule on a quest for enlightenment, in search of wisdom that would make him better able to withstand the next threat to his homeland.
Months of difficult travel passed. After a long and fruitful voyage, Link breathed deeply the sea spray from the deck of the ship that carried him home to Hyrule. But his homecoming was not to be. Suddenly a squall struck his ship, and though he valiantly fought the waves, a lightning bolt reduced his ship to splinters.
Link's world faded to black as he sank into the darkness of the storm-tossed sea with the remains of his craft. But in the cold darkness of the deep, Link heard a comforting voice that reminded him of home. It was the voice of Princess Zelda!
?You're going to be all right!? the voice said. ?What a relief!?
Link opened his eyes to find Princess Zelda standing over him--or was it?! Actually, it turned out to be a woman named Marin. She explained that he had drifted with the wreckage of the ship to the shores of KoholintIsland. This mysterious island was unique for the gigantic egg which crowned its central mountain. It was said that a mythical creature, the Wind Fish, lay asleep inside the egg.
Link set out in search of his sword and other gear that might have washed up on the beach. As he stood in the surf with his recovered sword, a strange owl suddenly appeared.
The mysterious owl tells Link that to return home, he must awaken the Wind Fish by gathering and playing the eight Instruments of the Sirens. The bosses in Link's Awakening, who guard the Sirens' Instruments, are said to be the Nightmares of the Wind Fish. When Link plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish with all eight Instruments, he can enter the giant egg atop the TalTalMountains, where the Wind Fish slumbers. There he must face the final Nightmare, shadowy apparitions which include umbral visions of foes from Link's past.
For the following to hold true, there had to be some point in time that Ganon was resurrected - meaning that somehow someone probably got a hold of Link's blood.  There's no story so far that shows the resurrection of Ganon, but let's assume that one day it will be mentioned or explained and continue with the following.  Note:  Some say the "Oracle of Ages" and "Oracle of Seasons" can be placed in either timeline.  But I think "Ages" amkes most sense in this timeline because of Impa's presence.
Oracle of Ages
Link awoke one day to find himself deep in a strange forest. As he started to walk through the woods, he heard cries for help coming from just up ahead of him. Link hurried toward the voice only to find a group of monsters surrounding the woman who was screaming. When the monsters saw Link, they immediately fled.
The woman who was being attacked was none other than Impa, nurse to Hyrule's Princess Zelda. Impa said she had come to the forest to search for a singer named Nayru.
?Can't you help me look?? Impa asked. Despite the strange look she gave him, Link could not refuse her request. Together they found a large stone with a rune on it. Naturally, Link moved the stone, but Impa wouldn't so much as lay a hand on it.
As they traveled even deeper into the forest, they found a young woman singing. Invited to sit by the group of animals that listened to the girl's song, Link joined in the circle and let the beautiful song fill his ears and penetrate his heart. This was surely Nayru, the singer Impa was searching for. Just then, Impa erupted in a cackling laugh.
?Ah ha hahahaha!?
A darkness surrounded Impa, and a frightening shadow lifted from her body.
?Nayru! Oracle of Ages! I, Veran, Sorceress of Shadows, shall make you my own!?
The shadow that called itself Veran began swooping about the forest before flying straight into the body of the frightened singer. A blinding light shone forth from Nayru's body.
When Link's eyes had grown use to the light, he realized that Nayru looked very strange. Her face seemed veiled in shadow, and her bright smile had vanished. A piercing, evil gaze replaced it.
?Ha hahahaha!?
?Now the power of the Oracle of Ages is mine! I can travel through time at will! Now a new age shall begin-an age of shadows!? And with that, Veran and Nayru vanished.
Nayru was actually the Oracle of Ages who controlled time in this land  of Labrynna. When the oracle was kidnapped, the flow of time in Labrynna was distorted, and strange things began to happen. Before vanishing, Veran said, ?When the past changes, so does the present.? Her plan was to travel to the past and gather power from the sorrows of the people of Labrynna so that she could create her age of shadows.
Link receives a sword from Impa and makes his way to the Maku Tree in LabrynnaCity, the capital of Labrynna.[10] The Maku Tree is transported to the past by Veran; Link uses a time hole to travel to the past as well. The Maku Tree tells Link he will need the eight Essences of Time to defeat Veran. Link retrieves the eight Essences, hidden in eight dungeons throughout Labrynna's past and present, and brings them to the Maku Tree. The Maku Tree uses them to create a Huge Maku Seed that allows Link to enter Veran'sBlackTower.[11] Link ascends the tower and defeats Veran. He rescues Nayru, who tells him that all has returned to normal.[12]Twinrova, watching the scene remotely, states that Veran has lit the Flame of Sorrow.[13]
The story begins with the land  of Hyrule being in a state of fear due to strange  happenings that have occurred in recent days. On a stormy night, Princess  Zelda and the shrine maidens fear that the reason for these events is that  Vaati's seal is weakening. She summons Link and brings him to the castle so he  can protect her and the other maidens while they open the portal to the Four Sword Sanctuary. When they do, however, a shadowy figure appears from the portal.  This figure was Shadow Link, who then  kidnapped the shrine maidens and sealed them in crystals. Link follows him to  the sanctuary where he retrieves the Four Sword to destroy this evil version  of himself. The Four Sword is a magical sword that splits the wielder into  four clones of themself. Vaati  is once again released and wreaks havoc on the once peaceful kingdom.
As Link wanders the overworld of Hyrule Field on his quest to restore peace to Hyrule, he learns that the creation of his evil counterpart and the release of Vaati is only a small part in an insidious plot to take control of Hyrule. Things complicate as the dimension of the Dark World appears and people are being abducted throughout Hyrule. Link learns that not only have the knights of Hyrule mysteriously disappeared, but evil versions of them have been creating havoc. The castle has been taken over and monsters were appearing everywhere.
It's revealed later in the game that the true villain is none other than Ganon, King of Darkness. He has stolen a powerful trident and used it to take control of parts of Hyrule. He stole the dark mirror and used it to create Shadow Link and then sent him to kidnap the shrine maidens and trick Link into releasing Vaati. Ganon wanted to gain control of as much power as possible and build up his army. To this end, he wants to take control of the shrine maidens' power as well as abducting people and sending them into the Dark World where they would become part of his army. Vaati, unknowingly, furthered his plans by creating monsters to add to his army. It is also revealed that the knights of Hyrule were murdered by Ganon and their souls were trapped in the Dark World where they became creatures of Darkness. Link eventually saves the shrine maidens, retrieves the Dark Mirror, destroys Shadow Link and Vaati, and faces Ganon in an ultimate showdown. Link defeats Ganon and seals him firmly in the Four Sword. Peace returns to Hyrule and the people celebrate as all traces of the evil that plagued Hyrule are vanquished.
Set hundreds of years after the events of Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker finds the hero Link in a sea scattered with several islands, which necessitates frequent sailing and naval combat. Link lives with his grandmother and younger sister Aryll on Outset Island, one of the few inhabited islands in the new overworld called the Great Sea. The people of the GreatSea pass down a legend of a prosperous kingdom with a hidden golden power. Ganon found and stole this power, using it to spread darkness until a boy dressed in green sealed the evil with the Blade of Evil's Bane. The boy became known as the Hero of Time, and passed into legend. One day, the sealed evil began to return, but the Hero of Time did not reappear. The inhabitants of the Great Sea are unsure of the kingdom's fate, but it is clear that this legend is the story of Ocarina of Time where the Hero of Time fought Ganon.
When boys of OutsetIsland come of age, they are customarily dressed in green, like the Hero of Time. The elders hope to instill the courage of the Hero in the children. It is Link's birthday as The Wind Waker opens, and he receives the familiar green clothes and cap. Aryll's present to Link is permission to use her telescope, and as he looks through it, he spots a large bird, carrying a girl to a nearby forest. After retrieving a sword, Link sets out to investigate. Link rescues the girl, only to have Aryll kidnapped by the bird as it returns.
The girl rescued in the forest is Tetra, captain of a pirate ship. At Link's request, they sail to the Forsaken Fortress, where a mysterious figure is holding Aryll and several other girls. Following an unsuccessful raid, Link is captured by the Helmaroc King, and hurled into the ocean. A talking boat called the King of Red Lions rescues Link, and tells him that the master of the Forsaken Fortress is Ganon, the evil of legend. After purchasing a sail, Link travels to DragonRoostIsland at the King of Red Lions' suggestion.
Goddesses' Pearls
Once at the island, the King of Red Lions instructs Link to locate Dragon Roost Island, home of a dragon named Valoo and the Rito tribe, a bird-like race, and ask them for a jewel called Din's Pearl. Link receives the Wind Waker, a baton able to control the wind, from his boat and sets out towards the dwelling of the Rito tribe. Link learns that Prince Komali has Din's Pearl, but is unwilling to relinquish it. Prince Komali is of the age when members of the Rito tribe traditionally climb to the top of DragonRoostIsland to get a scale from Valoo, which allows a Rito to grow wings. However, Valoo has grown violent and unpredictable and Prince Komali is fearful to attempt the journey. He agrees to give Link the pearl if Link can calm Valoo. With the help of Rito tribe member Medli, Link makes his way to Valoo and defeats Gohma, the monster that had been upsetting the dragon. Afterwards, Link receives Din's Pearl from Prince Komali, who is finally ready to ascend the mountain and gain his wings.
The King of Red Lions has Link sail south to the Forest Haven to ask the Deku Tree for Farore'sPearl. Inside the haven, Link saves the Deku Tree from a group of ChuChus and is introduced to the Koroks, spirits of the forest. Aware that Ganondorf has returned, the Deku Tree agrees to give Link the pearl after the annual ceremony to replenish the forests. Linder, one of the Koroks, enters and informs the Deku Tree that fellow KorokMakar has fallen into the Forbidden Woods. The Deku Tree, believing that Link's appearance is not a coincidence, asks Link to help. Link rescues Makar from a large plant monster named Kalle Demos and returns to the Forest Haven. The ceremony is completed and Link receives Farore'sPearl.
Link then travels to GreatfishIsland seeking Jabun, a great water spirit, but finds that the island has been demolished by Ganondorf. After a trip to WindfallIsland to obtain bombs, Link returns to OutsetIsland and blows open the entrance to a cave in which Jabun is hiding. During a conversation between Jabun and the King of Red Lions, Jabun gives Link Nayru'sPearl.
Link takes the three pearls to the three TriangleIslands, inserting one into a statue on each island. An image of the Triforce appears and the Tower of the Gods rises from the sea in the center of the islands. Link enters the tower, where he battles Gohdan to prove his worth. After defeating Gohdan, a ring of light appears on the surface of the water below. Link sails into the ring of light and is taken beneath the waters to Hyrule Castle, which is overrun with enemies and frozen in time. Link descends a hidden staircase, where he finds the Master Sword, the evil-repelling blade that the Hero of Time used to seal Ganondorf. By removing the sword, Link awakens the castle and all enemies inside. He destroys the enemies and returns to the surface.
Restoring the Master Sword
With the Master Sword in hand, Link returns to the Forsaken Fortress and joins Tetra and the pirates. He frees the captives and kills the Helmaroc King in a dramatic rooftop battle, but is easily defeated by Ganondorf. Ganondorf tells Link that taking the Master Sword has fully lifted the seal, unbinding his full power; furthermore, the Master Sword has lost its power to repel evil. Ganondorf raises his sword to kill Link, but Tetra intervenes. Ganondorf grabs Tetra, and is about to snap her neck when the Triforce of Power responds and he notices that Tetra is wearing a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom as a necklace. As he calls her Princess Zelda, Quill and the now-winged Prince Komali fly in and take Link and Tetra away. Valoo swoops into view, breathing fire and sending Ganondorf's room up in flames.
Link and Tetra sail back to the castle at the bottom of the sea and descend the staircase, where they meet DaphnesNohansenHyrule, the king of Hyrule and the voice of the King of Red Lions. He tells Link and Tetra that the prayers of the people in the legend were answered ? the gods sealed Ganondorf and all of Hyrule with him by flooding the kingdom with a torrential rainstorm, ordering those chosen to take refuge on the mountaintops. The King takes out a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom, which completes the piece in Tetra's necklace, causing her to transform into the more traditional appearance of Princess Zelda.
At DragonRoostIsland, Link plays the Earth God's Lyric to Medli, which awakens the knowledge that she is the sage of Earth, able to help restore the power of the Master Sword. Link and Medli battle through the EarthTemple and defeat a massive Poe named Jalhalla. Medli begins to pray, restoring some power to Link's sword. Link leaves Medli to continue praying and sails to the Forest Haven. He finds Makar and plays the Wind God's Aria, giving Makar the realization that he is the Sage of Wind. They travel to the WindTemple and defeat the sandworm Molgera. Makar prays and restores the Master Sword's full power.
Link then goes on a variety of quests to find and decode eight nautical charts that mark the locations of the pieces of the Triforce of Courage. Link raises the pieces from the sea and restores the Triforce of Courage, which then dwells inside Link, marking him as the Hero of Winds.
Confrontation with Ganondorf
With the restored Master Sword and the Triforce of Courage, Link returns once more to HyruleCastle, where Zelda disappears before him. Link breaks through the barrier beyond HyruleCastle and enters Ganon's Tower, where he reaches Zelda and fights large puppets created by Ganondorf. When these are defeated, Ganondorf reveals himself to Link, claiming that Link is the reborn Hero of Time. Link follows Ganondorf to the roof of the tower, where Ganondorf tells Link why he wanted to rule Hyrule. He says that his country lay within a desert, where the searing winds of the day and the frigid gale of the night always brought death with them, whereas the cool breeze of Hyrule brought life to its people. He coveted those winds, wishing to rule a land that wasn't destroyed by them. Ganondorf remarks that it must be fate that has allowed him to bring all of the pieces of the Triforce together again, just as he had with the Hero of Time. The three Triforces are extracted from Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda and combine to form the complete Triforce. Ganondorf demands that the gods to expose Hyrule to the sun once more, under his control. Before he can reach the Triforce, however, King Daphnes suddenly appears, touching the Triforce. He asks the gods of the Triforce to give Link and Zelda a future and to wash away Hyrule. Finally, he asks for everyone's fates to be fulfilled, and that Ganondorf may drown along with Hyrule. The Triforce then splits apart and disappears as water from the ocean above begins to pour down all around the tower.
Knowing he had just heard his own death sentence ushered through the power of the gods, Ganondorf laughs maniacally, calling the idea of hope for the children ?foolishness?. He then draws his swords, wishing to deny King Hyrule's wish and prove the power of the Triforce wrong, and begins battling Link (this can be interpreted as a signal that Ganondorf's sanity is fading). Zelda assists by using Link's bow and shooting Ganondorf with Light Arrows. After Ganondorf knocks out Zelda, Link has to fight him alone without the help of the light arrows. Eventually Princess Zelda regains consciousness and Link has to reflect the light arrows with his shield in order to hit Ganondorf. Once Ganondorf is stunned, Link launches his final attack by rolling around Ganondorf, jumping in the air holding the Master Sword downward, then stabbing him in the forehead, turning him to stone. After a conversation with the King of Hyrule, Link and Zelda float to the surface in a bubble, leaving Ganondorf and the king to be buried underwater with Hyrule. Link and Zelda sail away in search of a new land ? with the wind as their guide. This scene marks the beginning of the upcoming DSZelda game, Phantom Hourglass.
The game is a sequel to The Wind Waker, set several months after its events. At the start of the game, Link, Tetra and her pirates are at sea looking for the phantom ship rumored to ply the waters in that area, taking sailors and residents of the nearby islands. Tetra, convinced that the phantom ship is simply a bunch of trouble-making pirates, is determined to teach them that pirates have rules, too. When a mysterious ship appears in the middle of a dense fog, Tetra jumps aboard to explore. As the ship pulls away and begins to vanish with her on board, Link attempts to leap over and save her only to fall into the water himself.
After having a vision of Tetra being surrounded by darkness and calling for his help, Link is washed up on MercayIsland and meets a fairy named Ciela, whose appearance is similar to that of Navi from Ocarina of Time. The fairy has lost her memory and decides to team up with Link. On MercayIsland, Link meets an old man named Shiwan who provides him with a sword. Link travels to the far side of the island and rescues Captain Linebeck from the Temple of the Ocean King.[9] In doing so, Link secures the use of Linebeck's customizable steamship to travel throughout the overworld (initially restricted to a single quadrant, but expanded as he acquires more sea maps).
In the first half of the game, Link must rescue three colored fairies: the red Fairy of Power, Reef, from the FireTemple; the blue Fairy of Wisdom, Nelly, from the WindTemple; and the yellow Fairy of Courage from the Temple of Courage. However, upon defeating the CourageTemple's keeper, a giant lobster known as Crayk, the rescued fairy is colorless and appears just like Ciela. Ciela wonders why this is, but cannot remember anything due to her amnesia. As Link and Lineback are about to leave Molde Island, Shiwan then arrives, using his magical walking stick to fuse Ciela with the colorless fairy to become a yellow fairy, revealing that she is the Fairy of Courage.
Linebeck and Link then set off to pursue the phantom ship. After rescuing four sisters from imprisonment onboard, it is revealed that they are in fact phantoms themselves. Defeating them, Link obtains the key to where Tetra is being held, but he discovers that Tetra has been turned to stone. The old man Shiwan then arrives and reveals that he is in fact the Ocean King himself. According to him, a few years ago, an evil plant monster named Bellum appeared, hungry to eat life-force. He used this absorbed force to create powerful monsters, including the dungeon bosses and the phantoms in the Temple of the Ocean King, and used them to seal away the three fairies of Power, Wisdom, and Courage. Ciela, the Fairy of Courage, was able to split herself into two to flee, but in doing so, she also lost her memory. The Ocean King tried to fight Bellum but failed, and he too divided himself into two. Shiwan then created the Phantom Hourglass so that someone could use it to venture through the Temple of the Ocean King and defeat Bellum.
Shiwan then reveals that the only way to defeat Bellum is by obtaining a weapon known as the Phantom Sword. Shiwan asks Link to visit the smithy Zauz on his island. Zauz asks for three steel crystals as necessary ingredients for the sword; the scarlet, azure, and verdure steel crystals are on GoronIsland, the Isle of Frost, and the Isle of the Dead, respectively.
Link sails to GoronIsland where DaiGoron, the tribe's chief, asks him a quiz to admit him as one of the Gorons. Link defeats Bongorongo in the Goron'sTemple and saves MaiGoron, a child Goron that becomes Link's controllable sidekick throughout the temple. Link then sails to the Isle of Frost where he resolves the situation among the snow penguins and snow monkeys. The two races lived peacefully on either side of the island for 100 years, until recently, a snow monkey invaded the snow penguins' village and disguised itself as one of them. Link defeats the Gleeock in the IceTemple and receives the Azure Steel. Lastly, Link sails off to the Isle of the Dead where he must talk to the spirits of four knights and then finally Mutoh himself, the king of the ancient Daiku kingdom. Link defeats an ancient rock soldier known as Eox and receives the final verdure steel crystal.
After taking the three steel crystals to Zauz and having him forge the Phantom Sword, Link returns to the Temple of the Ocean King and journeys to its lowest floor, where Bellum lurks. Link and Ciela defeat Bellum with the help of Phantom Spheres, which enable Link to freeze time and attack Bellum's weak spot. Bellum then appears to be defeated and Shiwan, the Ocean King, then arrives to warp them to safety. Ciela recovers her lost memories. On Linebeck's ship, Tetra is unfrozen and thanks Link for all his trouble. When Link is about to reach out to hold Tetra's hand, Bellum suddenly appears and kidnaps Tetra, then takes over the phantom ship. Link and Linebeck chase after the phantom ship and attack Bellum's tentacles in a marine battle, sinking the ship. Finally, on the ship's ruins, Bellum possesses Linebeck and turns him into a sword-wielding Darknut. Link defeats the possessed Linebeck in a sword fight (as in the style of Ganondorf in Twilight Princess), and Bellum is finally defeated and disintegrates into the Sands of Time.
Shiwan reappears as the Ocean King, a blue whale, and says that the Fairies of Power, Wisdom, and Courage must leave with him to their world. Shiwan asks Linebeck to make a wish, and Ciela replies for Lineback, saying that he hopes to find treasure. Link and Lineback say their goodbyes to Ciela, with Linebeck pretending to not care about her. Then, the credits roll while a collage of Link's new adventures (in the graphical style of the introduction) is shown. Later, Link and Tetra find themselves aboard the repaired phantom ship. Soon after, Nico sails by and Link and Tetra reboard their own ship. Nico asks what Link and Tetra had been doing for the past ten minutes, and asks Tetra if she just had a bad dream, which Tetra denies. While the pirates argue, Link gasps, noticing that the phantom ship is nowhere to be seen. Link reaches into his tunic and fishes out an empty Phantom Hourglass. Link then runs over to the opposite deck of the ship, where he sees Linebeck's steamboat sailing off into the distance. Link smiles in relief and there, the game ends.
