| Structure of the Earth Alliance Navy | |||
| Commander-in-Chief of the Earth Alliance Navy The top commander of the Earth Alliance Navy, the CiC has total control over the space forces of the Alliance. Also, when dealing in matters of corrdination between the Earth Alliance Army and Navy, the CiC of the Navy has the final say over operational planning and execution. General The highest rank an officer can acheive in the Earth Alliance Navy, Generals command full battlefleets and often have authority over an entire star system in the event that an enemy fleet arrives to threaten the planet. Generals have often seen a dozen battles and ground assaults and have commanded with skill the various ships under their command, making them the most versitile officers the Navy has to offer. Lieutenant General The Lieutenant Generals of the Navy are often qualified to be promoted to the rank of full General but lack the basic combat experience needed for full autonomy. The most qualified are often given command of battlefleets, though they still report to the Commander-in-Chief for consultation on important matters instead of being allowed to use their own discretion. Major General The first rank where a Navy officer receives a permanent command of a task force, the Major Generals can be found commanding the smaller support fleets and exploration fleets of the Earth Alliance. Not entirely proven to be capable of combat command of a full fleet but having enough experience to command multiple ships competantly, Major General is something of a test rank before promotion to Lieutenant General. Brigadier General More of a 'floating rank', Brigadier Generals often don't command a set fleet but instead are employed to form task forces as the need arises. Often using only a Heavy Cruiser or a Dreadnought as their flagship, Brigadier Generals can be charged with tasks ranging from long range patrol of a system to the blockade of an enemy port or a small-scale ground assault. Brigadier General is also the first combined operation rank in which a Naval officer can give a direct order to a lower-ranked Army officer. Captain A sign of confidence from the High Command, a promotion to the rank of Captain opens up the doors for command of the larger Earth Alliance vessels, namely the Nova Dreadnaughts and the much-covetted Omega Destroyers. Trusted enough for independant duty, Captains will be given a detatched command, often with junior officers and other vessels under their direction. It is the Captains that form the backbone of the Earth Alliance Navy's officer corps. Commander The first real command rank, Commanders are often assigned to command a warship in the event that another officer of higher rank is not available or the Commander has proven themself in battle. Commanders with their own commands can often be found onboard the Heavy Cruisers and Explorer Ships of the Earth Alliance Navy. Lieutenant Commander Lieutenant Commanders often command multiple fighter squadrons or command a scout group as part of a larger fleet. Experienced enough to know basic combat maneuvers, Lieutenant Commanders can be charged with fighter assault missions, fighter escort missions or deep scouting incursions into enemy space to assess enemy fleet strength. Lieutenant A sign of confidence in an officer is usually marked with a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. Now able to act somewhat independantly, Lieutenants are often given small tasks such as fighter patrols or command of Olympus Corvettes to act as scouts for a larger fleet. If they prove themselves early on, a promotion upwards is almost certain to follow. Ensign The first rank of command within the Earth Alliance Navy, Ensigns are usually assigned as training officers to the larger fleet vessels or, in some instances, as executive officers onboard low-staff ships being sent on deep patrol. Often, an officer remains an Ensign for little over a year before being promoted. |

| Commander-in-Chief of the Earth Alliance Army The highest ranking officer of the Earth Alliance Army, the Commander-in-Chief has full authority over the deployment of ground forces to both planets and warships within the Earth Alliance. Also, because of the nature of the office, the Commander-in-Chief shares a certain equality with the CiC of the Navy when it comes to the development and implementation of stratedgy concerning a foreign power. General Filling much the same role as the Generals in the Earth Alliance Navy, Generals command the ground defenses for an entire system, often from the central world. In the event that the space-based forces are being led by an officer of lower rank, the General can issue orders to the fleet in order to insure the best protection of the planet.
