Thing you've found a cool religion?
Think again
The site is in need of a major overhaul, but my time for doing this has been very limited the past year. The old main page still exits and there is a link to it below. From it you can link to everything else that has been put on the site the past three years. If you are new to the Angst Experience, you should click on those links to get a feel for what the site is about. You will note that comedy is a major component of what Baha'i Angst is all about. But the problems addressed through the humor are real. This new main page will focus on one or two issues at a time. At present, two very good examples of the Bahai Faith's struggles dealing with thoughtful members of the religion are being added to the site. The more important of these two issues is being added today: Sen McGlinn Who? Sen McGlinn is well know to those involved in the academic study of the Baha'i Faith. Those who have had the pleasure of reading things he has posted to various Baha'i websites and sometimes exclusive message boards are well aware of his interests and his intellectual capacity. It comes as no surprise to Baha'i Angst that Sen's latest book CHURCH AND STATE: A Postmodern Political Theology has apparently been the cause for his disenrollment from the supposedly liberal and open Baha'i Faith as run by nine indirectly-elected male officials sitting on the most expensive real estate in Haifa, Israel. Sen's disenrollment is but the latest chapter in an ongoing war between some Baha'i intellectuals and the Baha'i Officialdom which some date back to the 1970's when American and other Baha'is began to learn Arabic and Persian and to study the Baha'i writings independently. A number of these people eventually left the religion, were tossed out, or left under what they felt to be serious pressure from the Baha'i authorities. Here are some links that will help inform you about the Sen McGlinn situation. They are just the beginning. 1. Click here to link directly to the publisher where you can order Mr. McGlinn's book. If you are a Baha'i, you really need to read this thing. It may change, positively, the way you look at your religion. If you are a former angst-ridden Baha'i, you will probably want to read it too. 2. Here is a link to Mr. McGlinn's page at the huge Bahai Library website. 3. Here is a link to an article by Karen Bacquet discussing the controversy. Scroll down until you see "Sen McGlinn's Disenrollment." She includes links to other places where commentary has been written on the subject. 4. Here is another link to a weblog that comments on the issue and on other Baha'i issues. Of course, the best thing about this particular weblog is that it wrote a wonderful review of the Baha'i Angst website some time ago!
If you are interested in perusing the rest of this site, you can begin here. That will take you to the most recent archived material. But if you are NEW to BAHAI ANGST then you need to start here. You will really learn about the Bahai Faith and its real principles.

ANGSTCASTING IS HERE We are now up to Angstcast number 4. Here is the RSS Feed
More updates are coming. For now most of my time has gone into the podcast (see the Angstcasting info on the top right of this page.) There is so much to make fun of and so little time. Soon we plan to have a new Ruhi Lesson. Also, at some point, we will investigate the mysterious death of Shoghi Effendi. If you have any info on his death, please send it to Bahai Angst.

Did he fall? Or was he pushed? Oh, and how come somebody who wrote 14.2345 zillion things somehow forgot to write a will?
Here are a few cool links: Bahai Related: 1. The Cormorant Baker (The best Baha'i Blog out there) 2. Karen's Thoughts A thoughtful blog by a real trouble maker. We just call her Ms. Bo. 3. Allison Marshall Not related to Steve Marshall except by marriage. 4. Bahai Rants Another very thoughtful blog on the problems of dealing with the Baha'i administrative disorder Not Really Bahai Related 1. The National Spiritless Assembly of the Bahais of the United States (this is the official US Baha'i Website: Warning: It is boring as hell.) 2. The Bahai Administrative Website. It has lots of links to really really boring shit. It also is where Baha'is can use their ID numbers to log in and read other even more boring shit. If you are really cool, you might even find someone who might, just might, give you an ID number and name so you can log in. Yes, Baha'is have ID numbers. We at Bahai Angst are waiting for them to start implanting chips. 3. The Kingdom Project. A really cool way to get Bahais to give even more money to maintain buildings that they can't afford. Note the glassy-eyed Stepford Bahai woman currently on the front page. 4. Bahai Music. Warning, warning, warning. You must be 18 to go to this site.
