The annual Gem and Mineral Show is held on the first weekend of May. From 10 AM to 5 PM. At the Kern County Fair Grounds, on the corner of Ming Ave. and South P Street. Admission is FREE The society show provides the local populace the opportunity to view gem and mineral exhibits from worldwide sources. The proceeds from this event are used to provide scholarships to students of the earth sciences at both the Bakersfield College and Cal State University Bakersfield.
