BANGOR SWIFTS F.C. HISTORY WEBSITE Welcome to this site which has been created to chronicle the hisory of Bangor Swifts Football Club. The Club can trace it's origin back to 12 September 1970 when a team of mostly teenagers took to the football field in the grounds of Rathgael Special School. The team were representing the Wesley Centenary Youth Guild and was formed by members of the youth club which operated in the Epworth Hall situated in Bingham Lane, Bangor, Northern Ireland. Most of the players were still at school, the majority attending Bangor Grammar School which had a "no soccer" policy at the time. Many were also supporters of the local Irish League club, Bangor F.C. Having played friendly and Summer League matches for two seasons under the banner of Wesley Centenary Youth Guild, the players decided to change their name in March 1972 to Epworth Hall Youth Club which was the name they were better known as. This also marked the transition from a youth club team to a proper football club and the current name of Bangor Swifts F.C. was adopted on 1 January 1973. It is hoped that the website will eventually expand into the sections listed below:
