| THE POWER OF CATS!!!! Once I have been told cats owners become lunatics and fanatics. Ok, this comment came from a dog owner and lover, but how right he was!! I have seen too many people who never loved cats and who suddenly found themselves with a new guest in the house becoming literally mental!! One of the first manifestations of this madness is a frantic impulse to hunt for the most improbable and modern devices for their little friends: various shaped nail scratchiers, plastic running mice, feathery/hairy entities, coloured balls (with and without inner bells), followed by the urge of giving a new “cat-trendy look” to the house!! There you go: cat-calendars, cat-books, cat-printed aprons and table-wear, cat-shaped cushions appear here and there, and pictures of the pets – the new kings and queens of the house - are displayed on desks and shelves (and changed periodically!!) And it doesn’t matter if the spoiled feline leaves its marks on furniture and tapestries, sit on whatever you are reading at the moment, and spread around that unmistakable “eau de toilette de chat” fragrance… A purr-purr noise and a Puss In Boots look can make you forgive anything. I am also a victim of this disease, together with a huge percentage of my friends: we all love our little rascals and live to please them and sing their praises. I bet Andrew Lloyd Webber has a huge Macavity sleeping on his sofa!! |
