I like bridges

Bridges are symbols of communication and forward projection

They stand against the void, and challenge waters and winds

They are the first to be built when a city starts growing, the first to be destroyed when a war is declared

They carry the name of important people and places

The ancient Romans won many of their battles because they were able to build a bridge overnight

In the Middle Age drawbridges guarded fortresses and castles, welcoming friends and shutting out enemies

One of my favourites short stories is
The Angel of The Bridge by John Cheever
From Millennium to Tower Bridge - London
Blackfriars Bridge - London
Millennium Bridge - London
Ponte Sant'Angelo - Roma
Brooklyn Bridge - NYC
Ponte Rialto - Venezia
Puente de Alcantara - Toledo
The Golden Gate - San Francisco
Ha' Penny Bridge - Dublin
Pont Neuf - Paris
X Bridge - Amsterdam
