This morning we lost one of our fosters, little Maddie, to illness.
When  first pulled from the shelter about a month ago, she
had horrible skin allergies and infections. She seemed to be
responding and improving, but late last week she
started feeling worse. It became obvious over the weekend that something else was going on in her little body. She survived the weekend and made the early morning trip to the vet's office this morning, but died on the
table while the vet was prepping her arm for an IV.
Maddie was only about 2 years old, and certainly deserved better in this life.

we adopted her in the summer of 1996,
but do not know her real birthday-
(we have a dog party for her on June 14th,
thought- we kinda had to make up a birthday for her.)
She died on Feb 7th.
We always called her our "Lovely Bea-ta Meter Maid",
and that was our favorite song to dance to
(she was quite a dancer, boy could she bust a move
with the wiggle butt dance!!!!)
In fact, on her urn, we inscribed :

                    Beatrice Reed
            Lovely Bea-ta Meter Maid
What will we do without you?
Give us a wink and make us think  of you....
God, how we love her and miss her.

My first real rescue, hands on, Buster, had a major stroke and died in his mom's arms last night.  He lived with her for 11
months and they loved each other dearly.   Sophie, Bandit, and now Buster.  I have always placed older dogs  and I guess I never knew, or realized, how this was going to hit me.
Please say a prayer for Buster and Vivian.  She is really hurting right now
