View of St. Vincent & the Lobster Pond

Our front porch had an ever changing view of St. Vincent & the channel.  Every afternoon new sailboats & "cats" would begin coming in & tying up at the moorings for the night.  The next morning, some would leave & others would spend a couple of days.

As you may have noticed, it is often cloudy.  This is the islands!  Most days it would rain for 5-10 minutes in the morning & perhaps again in the afternoon.  Several of the nights also gave us heavy showers.  The only day with full sun all day was Thanksgiving!

It was after on of these afternoon showers that Liz was able to catch the rainbow that started right in front of our room!  It was really much bigger, really huge, when we first saw it!!!

Every good seafood restaurant has their lobster tank, but Young Island has a lobster pond!  This is where the lobsters are held until you order that broiled lobster.  There is more to the pond than the photos capture as it meanders to the left & right in the upper photo.  It's located right next to the dock & on the way to the restaurant, a great diversion on the way to & from the beach.  This is one place you don't hear anyone saying, "Pick Me"!

While at Young Island, you can for no additional charge, take a "Sail Away".  The boat to lhe left is being readied for one of these trips.  This is a 2 or 3 night trip aboard one of their boats to the neighboring islands.  Liz & I opted not to do this as we wanted to take some day trips on St. Vincent & do some snorkeling around Young Island.  Next trip, we'll probably do a "Sail Away".
