Although Cassandra was no longer allowed to wear the mantle of Batgirl anymore, that didn't stop her from patrolling the streets at night. One night she came across one of Batman's old foes: Lady Shiva Woosan. Batgirl recognbized her from Oracles files, and followed her until she ended up at a restaurant. Waiuting for her to make amove, Shiva finally went into killer mode when an indian woman appeared. Cassandra got in the way, but didn't do much good without her abilities and ended up in the hospital. Realizing how bad she was, Cassandra had Oracle e-mail Shiva to aks her to meet her the nxt night. There, Cassandra aksed Shiva to help her regain her abilities. Shiva agreed but only if they would battle in a year. Over the next few nights, Cassandra trained vigorously until she had her abilities back and still had the ability to speak. After showing Batman her abilities were back without explaining how, Cassandra was allowed to become Batgirl again.

When Jim Gordon was shot three times in the back, and the prime suspect was Catwoman, Batgirl decided to try and find her on her own, but had no luck and instead ran into a mercenary named Slyfox who was also looking for Catwoman because of the reward that was posted for her capture. After stopping Slyfox, Cassandra joined the rest of the Bat Family in a group effort to find Catwoman. They eventually found her, and managed to get the gun that Catwoman hid that was used to shott Gordon. With the gun they managed to trace the fingerprints to an ex-cop and let catwoman go. Then they let the GCPD handle it from there, and the shooter was brought to justice. Batgirl then helped a metahuman named Superboy, figure out who gave an upgrade to the street-gang only known as the Demonz. The source led them to an all new vaillian only known as Doctor Sin. Although they defeated Sin, Batgirl was punished being near Superboy's "kind" in the first place. Superboy getting mad at Batman for her taking the heat, complained to him saying he deserved the ounishment, not her. So instead, Superboy took half of Batgirl's punsihment. Afterwards, Batgirl faced shadowy government agency taht was out to kill a former sharpshooter of theirs. When batgirl intervened saving the sharpshooters life and humiliating the government badly, they decided to focus on Batgirl. How Batgirl will react to what they do will bring some major changes in her life.
