Military investigated over Indonesian police station attack
Indonesian police and military staff are investigating possible military involvement in
the death of a policeman during a recent attack on a police station in the capital,
Jakarta.
An unidentified group attacked the Makassar post in East Jakarta on Tuesday night,
beating up officers and vandalising the building.
One policeman was stabbed and hit on the head and died later in hospital.
A Jakarta police spokesman says police are investigating whether the military was
involved in the attack.
The Suara Pembaruan newspaper claims about 60 air force personnel staged the raid.
There have been a series of clashes between the police and the armed forces since
the police split from the military in 1999 to become a separate force.
